Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

this is interesting:
Drug Free Sport New Zealand has engaged the World Anti-Doping Agency in an ongoing investigation into deer velvet supplements.
But while the medical director of both the New Zealand Rugby Union and New Zealand Cricket has warned athletes to halt use, New Zealand Golf has turned to the deer industry in an attempt to defend Kiwi icon Sir Bob Charles from “unfounded” and “unfair” suggestion of drug violations – pre-empting the verdict of the world’s top anti-doping experts.
World golf hall of famer and 1963 British Open champion Charles, 76, has endorsed deer velvet supplements for 20 years and admits personal use. But, Charles says he was unaware deer velvet naturally contains insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).
The world anti-doping code, written by Wada, prohibits athletes from using IGF-1 at all times.
The issue came to light last week when Fijian golfer Vijay Singh and American football star Ray Lewis were also linked to the substance and the possibility they had breached drug rules.

@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-28106: Hmmmm…conspiracies again, Baks? Will have to ask cousin Grant Elliott about this one!!!
And in a lighter vein I see the Springbok cricket & soccer teams are having a good day so far today!!!
2 Feb 2013, 21:33 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-28107: Ja, pity you no longer support “Bok” cricket & soccer?
btw, can you name any soccer players from the Bok era?
PS: How’s Canberra’s cricket & soccer? Give us an update … AussieBoy
2 Feb 2013, 22:26 pm
@Angostura-28108: As you well know, I don’t support “Bok” rugby either. Having said that, and before we get into a nice debate, are you maybe insinuating that SA never had a Springbok soccer team? You strike me as quite a level headed sort of a guy, and I mostly agree with what you say.
As for your second question, it is well known that I am not a big soccer or skittle sticks fan and as such am unfortunately unable to answer your question…
I know not and care less whetther there are any “Brumbiies” soccer or skittle stick teams in Canberra but would nevertheless support them against any SA teams if there were.

But also, the whole night I’ve been womdering where Airwolf is parked & now we even have to pay the pilot overtime before he flies Zoooomer back to Nkandla…
2 Feb 2013, 23:15 pm
@BrumbiesBoy-28109: On the contrary, South Africa was expelled from FIFA in 1963 & the last Springbok soccer team was selected & performed in 1962.
I can remember only Les Salton, Springbok centre forward – as a little boy a poster of Les, toffed out in Springbok jersey, graced my bedroom wall.

@BrumbiesBoy-28113:

An interesting topic….Deer velvet health supplements. Don’t know much about the stuff, only that Nz exports tens of millions of dollars worth of deer velvet to China especially. The Chinese been using this stuff for thousands of years , so there must be something in it. The deer is a sensitive animal and during the rutting season the Stags hormone levels go off like Zaccy on the beers and the naturally produced growth hormone found in deer velvet is just that, a natural health potion. Should these health supplements be banned? Well they should cause them are the rules.

If people from Poland are called Poles,
why aren’t people from Holland called Holes?
Is this the answer to “The Dutchie” vernacular often used here.

@ufo-28138: You’re cold because it’s -20 outside… You can’t feel your feet because both your legs have been severed at the knee….and as for that light, well that’s the 2nd wave of ‘train’, tearing down the tracks to finish the job…
