Hore set for hefty ban
26 Nov 2012
New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been cited for an off-the-ball incident which subsequently hospitalised Wales lock Bradley Davies.
Hore hit Davies off the ball during the initial stages of last Saturday’s Test in Cardiff. The incident was missed by matchday officials, but Hore has now been cited and looks likely to receive a lengthy suspension.
The time and date of the hearing, before the IRB’s appointed independent judicial officer, have yet to be fixed.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen expects the hooker to be sidelined for some time. Hansen did not say as much, but has already called for a replacement ahead of the coming Test against England.
Dane Coles is expected to start at Twickenham.

It was not a forearm blow, it was a punch to the jaw. Any boxer would love to be able to punch like that, right on the angle propelling the lower mandible joint (condyle) up like a hammer blow to the brain. Accidentally, according to Hansen.
We will never get rid of the dirty stuff until the team bosses start seeing it for what it is. Time is short.

What an absolute crock of shite – really Hansen is FULL of shite.
Hansen first observed that he didn’t see the offence. He certainly didn’t seem too embarrassed and ashamed just as Hore was caught, he seemed more inclined to be vague and inexact.
Awful……….RWC Campions my arse.

—-and the previous stupidity against Scotland, and, and, one can go on and on. At the moment they are supposed to be ambassadors for the sport; world champions, and advertising the game far and wide. And what do we get, skulduggery and thuggery, that is not just an embarrassment to them, but to the rest of us. Rugby is a growing game with many kids starting to play. There is now no place for gratuitous violence, and the ABs, and others, should put their houses in order, and deal very severely with all miscreants.

I simply don’t believe anything Hansen or other NZ commentators say- its all spin. Rugby is like a religion in NZ and like religion and extreme nationalist can lead to the justification of immoral acts, like taking out key players, even if it means they’re seriously injured.

What exactl was the ‘something else’ that Hore was attempting ?
Punch in the throat perhaps ?
AB’s not only dirty but dangerously so…bring entire game into disreute.

Kangaroos strike forward Tony “T-Rex” Williams has vowed to repay the Kiwis for their “dirty” tactics in yesterday’s fiery encounter at Halliwell Jones Stadium if the two teams meet in the Four Nations final.
While most of the chorus of Aussie complaints after the game centred on Issac Luke’s “cannonball” tackle on David Shillington and late shots on kickers, Williams was unhappy with the Kiwis for other tactics.
The Kangaroos suffered a high injury toll with Shillington (ankle), Willie Tonga (hip) and Anthony Watmough (elbow) all in doubt for next weekend’s clash with England at Wembley, while Cooper Cronk has a broken nose.
Williams scored a try with his first touch of the ball but he was still unhappy after the win because of what he saw as dirty play.
“Play hard but don’t play dirty,” Williams said. “Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and all of those guys … that was something I don’t like and I will back up my boys any time.

You do wonder if New Zealand rugby will ever learn how decent society behaves. When Dean Greyling disgracefully assaulted McCaw, the Springboks leadership reacted immediately. Coach Heyneke Meyer publicly called the attack “unacceptable” and said: “I want to apologise to Richie McCaw”. Captain Jean de Villiers said: “We’ll never condone playing dirty” and promised to take action.
But all we have had out of Hansen so far is evasion. Initially Hansen wasn’t sure if Hore “clocked him but he certainly hooked him out”. A little later he said: “It looked like he was trying to clean out the Welshman in front of him It’s unfortunate that it’s happened.” Then Hansen said: “I am just resigned to the fact that he will probably get cited … think they think we’re thugs or something but we don’t play differently to anyone else.”

OPINION: Silence. For two days the world waited for Andrew Hore, Steve Hansen, Richie McCaw, Steve Tew or even the bloke who carries the bags to apologise for the All Black hooker’s unprovoked assault on Bradley Davies. Instead, New Zealand rugby appeared stuck on an endless loop of John Cage’s soundless epic. At the time of writing there had not been a solitary public note of regret.

It is this reaction that continues to gall the rest of the world. The recent list of All Blacks shame is a long one – the Canterbury front row deliberately beating up the 71 Lions, John Ashworth tearing open JPR’s face with a double stamp, Richard Loe’s assault on Paul Carozza, Jamie Joseph wrecking Kyran Bracken’s ankle, Keven Mealamu and Tana Umaga smashing Brian O’Driscoll’s shoulder.
These acts are bad enough, and other nations have similar shameful incidents in their rugby history, but what really grates is the consistent lack of a full and proper apology. Steve Hansen talks of taking ownership, but when has New Zealand rugby ever taken ownership of these acts of violence?

@victoriabok-28221:
absolutely.
its something they’ve been doing for a long time and sometimes its bad enough to put the players targeted out of rugby for many months even years at times.
you can certainly add Schalk, Bjorn and a few other injured players to that list.
