Argentina edge Blitzboks
1 Dec 2012
Argentina beat the Blitzboks 14-10 in the Bowl final of the Dubai Sevens.
Matias Moroni capitalised on a handling error to open the scoring for the South Americans and then bagged his brace just before half-time to give Argentina a 14-0 lead at half time.
Frankie Horne and Tshotsho Mbovane closed the gap to just four points with tries but they weren’t able to get the decisive score.
Earlier the Blitzboks cruised into the Bowl final of the Dubai Sevens with a 22-14 victory over the USA. Cornal Hendricks scored two first half tries to give his side the ascendancy, but the USA drew within five (12-7) but Tshotsho Mbovane and Stephan Dippenaar sealed the result with second-half tries.
In their first match of the day the Blitzboks ran in four tries in their 25-12 Bowl quarter-final defeat of Russia. The side had failed to progress to the Cup tournament due to losses against Portugal and Samoa, but negotiated Russia with relative comfort, Frankie Horne, Paul Delport, Warren Whiteley and Steven Hunt all scoring.
Russia scored at the start and end of the first half but the Blitzboks ultimately proved too strong for them.

Stephan Dippenaar… built like a brick shithouse but a real disappointing career so far.
In the NFL they’d call him a ‘Workout Warrior’. Has the physical tools but just isn’t the greatest player.
Honestly I reckon they’d be better off ditching the contracting of sevens players (cost cutting) and use it as a development tool for younger 15-man rugby players.
Who the heck really cares about 7′s anyway!

@hendrikp-3:
You were saying earlier how Fiji and SA were looking the best, you also said this AB side on a 20 test unbeaten streak had weaknesses all over the park, oh dear Hendrikp.

@NZINCHINA-4:
Guess I was wrong about us looking the best…. we did in Australia, but to lose to Portugal is embarrassing.
The bit about the AB side having weaknesses though… get over it d1psh1t. They’re not invincible, otherwise they’d have put away an Aussie 2nd-XV, and not relied on Dean Greyling & Morne Steyn to win them a home game in Dunedin.

@hendrikp-5:
Nobody is saying they are invincible but to suggest they have weaknesses all over the park is pure fantasy on your part, when the Bokke go unbeaten for 20 straight tests I doubt many will be saying they have weaknesses all over the park you’ll just have to live with the fact that you are a long long way behind us.

@NZINCHINA-6:
Think you’re taking what I said a bit too personally.
Simply pointed out some areas they were vulnerable.

@hendrikp-7:
Really you said the locks were hopeless, the front row was no good something about McCaw being past it etc I’m not taking it personally I was just interested in how you came to those conclusions considering we are unbeaten for 20 tests and have every trophy there is to win.

@hendrikp-3: I watch the NFL and haven’t heard of that expression …..yet.

@wnbb-9:
Google it.
It’s a term used to describe someone who does incredibly well at the NFL combine, but is absolutely hopeless when it comes to putting on a helmet and getting out there.
Vernon Gholston the biggest recent name I can think of.

I don’t watch a lot of 7s so maybe this happens more often than i realise but a lot of upsets this week – Canada destroying France and drawing with Scotland, Spain beating Scotland, Portugal beating RSA and England, Kenya sometimes does well but got very close to Fiji and beat Scotland. Good to see the game becoming a real competition before it makes it into the olympics

@gonzo-11:
Portugal games were the only real big upsets.
France aren’t any good at 7′s, neither is Scotland.
1 Dec 2012, 14:10 pm
France and Wales both beating Fiji… those are reasonable upsets.

Thanks for the invite but I’m over it.
It’s a lot easier to deal with when you were expecting an even lesser sentence.
