Pumas benefit from Dragons’ defeat
1 Dec 2012
Argentina will be in the second band of teams for the 2015 World Cup draw, which takes place on Monday.
Wales were ranked seventh before this weekend’s matches, but their last-minute defeat to the Wallabies sees them drop to ninth, which means they will be in the third band of teams for the draw and will therefore have two other top teams in their World Cup pool.
The Pumas have risen from ninth to eighth.
Latest IRB rankings:
Band 1
1 New Zealand 90.08
2 South Africa 86.94
3 Australia 86.87
4 France 85.07
Band 2
5 England 83.90
6 Ireland 80.22
7 Samoa 78.71
8 Argentina 78.71

My ideal:
1 New Zealand / England / Scotland
2 South Africa / Argentina / Italy
3 Australia / Samoa / Wales
4 France / Ireland / Tonga
Considered Wales in there with the All Blacks, but I’d hate to give the Samoans an easy run into the quarter-finals. They don’t deserve it the way they carry on, thinking the rugby world owes them something.
Have your say
