Lions name Ackermann’s deputy
14 Dec 2012
Lions coach Johan Ackermann will be assisted by former Sharks and Griquas man Swys de Bruin next year.
The Johannesburg franchise confirmed this on Friday.
With Ackermann taking over as Lions head coach from Kiwi John Mitchell on a permanent basis, De Bruin fills in as assistant coach.
‘I am excited to join a proud union like the Lions,’ said De Bruin. ‘I have the utmost respect for Johan and I believe we will work well together to get the Lions back to where they belong.’
De Bruin worked recently as the Sharks High Performance coach. He coached their U21s to the provincial title in 1997 and assisted the Super Rugby team.
He also mentored the Griquas from 1999-2003 and coached the SA U21s in 2001.

It’s gonna need more than a swys-machine to put these plonkers together again.

Either he has a criminal record for something involving some very dodgy porn or he is the kakkest coach around… why else would anyone go to the Lions?
Good Lord!
Have your say
