Tough road trips for Boks
9 Jan 2013
The Springboks will have difficult away assignments during the Rugby Championship as well as a match against France on their end-of-year tour.
Heyneke Meyer’s side will play Argentina in Mendoza on 24 August, Australia in Brisbane on 7 September and New Zealand in Auckland on 14 September. The Boks have won just two of their nine Tests against the All Blacks at Eden Park and lost all seven against the Wallabies at Suncorp Stadium (formerly Lang Park).
In November, the Boks will return to France for the first time since 2009. It will only be the third Test against the French since South Africa won the 2007 World Cup in Paris. The venue for this Test still has to be confirmed by the hosts. The Boks also face Scotland and Wales in Edinburgh and Cardiff.
Meanwhile, the venues for the first two Bok Tests of 2013 have been reversed to avoid a clash with the Top Gear motoring event in Durban. The opening fixture of a quadrangular tournament between the Springboks, Scotland, Samoa and Italy, will now take place at Kings Park on 8 June, with the second round being played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit – the first-ever Test at that venue.

Do we still do the Dragons thing?

Guess I just did.

I like our RC schedule.
Home and away against the Argies, then a 2 week break before a quick 2 game Australasian mission and then back home for the last 2 games after a 2 week break.
If we can beat Argies both games and win one of the 2 games against Kiwis or Aussies then we will be in with a shout at the tail end with home ground advantage.
Lets hope Heyneke brings the Boks to the party this year.

I think there should be a poll on this website:
Question:
If HM does not win the Rugby Championship in 2013, should he be retained as head coach???
9 Jan 2013, 14:38 pm
Why are the RC fixtures almost exactly the same as this year?
Argentina will start strong and fade away at the end. We will not play them at the end. Again!

@line break-4: Lets say the following happens:
1. SA win all their games, except their away game v the ABs
2. ABs win all their games, except their away game v the Boks
3. ABs have a better Points Difference and win the RC
Should Meyer then be fired?

I think the last time the Bokke won at the garden of Eden was 1903, they are due.

@Horings-5:
Fade away at the end, they were minutes away from beating Australia away, performed very well against the Aussies at home and only slipped up once against the world champs, no shame in that.

@Taahirah-1: Yes! We ALWAYS do the Dragons thing
9 Jan 2013, 17:36 pm
@Blokkies-3: Agree with you, its not such a bad schedule. Last year was crucial for a home start for the new team to gel.
What concerns me is this potential game against the thugs Samoa! We cant have Boks being injured before the RC for a nothing game.
Heyneke must play some fringe players for that tournament if possible
Go Bokke! This year is gonna be a great one!

@NZINCHINA-8: And got a draw against the #2 side, a game they shouldve won.
I agree the Argies played well and will be even better this year. They will learn more and “fade” less.
Hope the Boks can fix their “fading” problem in 2nd half too
9 Jan 2013, 19:51 pm
@Horings-5: LOL, you’d find something to complain about no matter what the draw. Would you prefer flying to NZ first, then Argentina, then back to Australia?
9 Jan 2013, 23:44 pm
@Horings-5:
Surely that has to be a record for earliest excuse on Keo….8 months before the game is going to take some beating.
If i were you i would just concentrate on your own team. You dont hear us kiwis complaining about where we play or when we play our games.

This is the easiest schedule we could hope for, even too easy. WTF is the point of the quadrangular series against 3rd rate teams? What a waste! Anything to get HM’s win ratio up. This means that we should walk the first series. We’ll stuff up the RC, but by then it’s too late to get rid of HM with only the EOYT left. Players being overly tired will be blamed for losing against France or Wales or both. HM will make it to the end of the year based on on beating Italy, Samoa and Scotland. Once he has got that far it will be said it’s too late before the WC to change the coach. The guy has been given a year to make progress and has failed dismally. Time to get a decent coach.

hard but fair… hard but fair…
go boks
10 Jan 2013, 12:34 pm
Very unfair to the Argies that they have to start their RC campaign away from home again.
Very unfair to the Boks that they have to play the AB and Aus away from home first. They did it last year as well. I thought they would reverse the schedule this year.

@whatthe-15:
It seem you are still a name calling immature little person.
So lets get this right here, Horings allowed to have an opinion but i cant?
My opinion was stop complaining about playing teams at the wrong time….. you have to play them just get on with it.
And you can just go back to your little hole in Auckland……..wannabe Kiwi
11 Jan 2013, 03:40 am
@Hurricane-18:
Yup, he had an opinion on the Boks schedule………………nothing about the AB’s, so in walks little hurricane and his big superior AB’s …………..who never complain, they just get on with it…….yeah right!! …………who gives a flying f uck about them……the comment was about the Boks schedule.
Oh, and wannabe kiwi hey?……unless you are a Moriori, you also an immigrant pilgrim!!
11 Jan 2013, 07:04 am
” Moriori,”? what the hell is that?
11 Jan 2013, 07:49 am
@Transformation-20: They were the original inhabitants of New Zealand and were apparently chowed by the Maori. The cannibalism opinion has never been proven, but they were definitely all wiped out by the Maori.
11 Jan 2013, 07:50 am
@Transformation-20:
The Moriori are said to be the first human inhabitants of Aotearoa, they were there before the Migration and were either overpowered by Maori or absorbed into the iwi. The Moriori were in fact Maori who were the earliest tribes to settle Nz with their last stronghold in the Chathams.
11 Jan 2013, 07:53 am
@Te Rangatira-22:
Basically there are no Moriori left, like other tribes they do not exist to this day.
12 Jan 2013, 01:25 am
@whatthe-19:
Well if you want to go down that road….SA is not your home either…nor is here. Pilgram…

@garth-21:
no, they ate them alright… amongst other things.

12 Jan 2013, 22:22 pm
@Hurricane-27:
huh…?.. come on Hurri, this isn’t a baiting session..
one guy asked a question, another guy answered and i weighed in with a clarification.
its history.
13 Jan 2013, 04:10 am
@i_love_u_bakkiesbotha-28:
It was already answered by Te Rangi….. and then pointing someone to wiki
is another joke.
Post #25 was enough…what was the other stuff you mentioned?
13 Jan 2013, 11:49 am
@Hurricane-29:
why are you being so defensive/argumentative about this?
the blogger garth states: “and were apparently chowed by the Maori. The cannibalism opinion has never been proven, but they were definitely all wiped out by the Maori.”
i merely weighed in with my own bit of information to clear this up. he claims some of the Moriori were ‘apparently’ eaten by the Maoris and i said yes they indeed were, going by many accounts of these events.
as well canabilism by Maori tribes has been proven and well documented.
are you saying on TR is allowed to weigh in with opinions?
by the other stuff i meant that the purpose of the Maoris attacking other peoples was not exclusively motivated by cannabilism. they would have conquered the Moriori as much for wanting to take slaves, land, food, goods and wealth from them as they may have wanted to eat some of them.
Have your say
