Kings suffer injury setback

Hooker Hannes Franklin and lock Darron Nell both suffered knee injuries at Kings training sessions this week.

Franklin will be out for between six to 12 weeks, after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, while Nell injured his knee when he collided with a partially exposed sprinkler head on the field.

‘We will have a better idea of the extent of Hannes’s injury and duration of treatment in the next 24 hours,’ said Kings director of rugby Alan Solomons. ‘Darron has suffered a soft tissue injury, but thankfully there is no fracture.’

The Kings start their Super Rugby campaign against the Force on 23 February.

Dragon Zooomer went to pay a propoganda visit and accidentally dropped his shower spout on the field?

    Aaah! The wheel turns!

Just rewards for the dirty tactics used in the second relegation match against the Cheetahs. The 3 players who were shoulder charged against their knees are still out injured and will miss a few weeks of Super15. Funny how SARU decided not to investigate that game.

Or rather, the correct term is ‘shoulder block’.

Johannesburg – Lions coach Johan Ackermann says they will be using the Lions Challenge to earn the respect of the South African rugby fraternity.

The union on Thursday launched the inaugural Lions Challenge series, which will see them feature in 16 matches to give their players some much needed game-time following a controversial relegation from Super Rugby last

Controversial relegation see gat man! It’s been ten years in the making.

Or even MORE precise: a Chop Block.
Even in the NFL (with all its padding) it is illegal since the intention is to injure the knees of the player.

I suspect the Kings probably have a NFL ‘expert’ who realized there isn’t specific rules against that type of tackle in rugby, but tackling without the arms/stiff arms are still illegal… no matter whether it is around the legs or around the neck.
