Toulon chasing Habana

The Stormers have confirmed that Toulon are trying to sign wing Bryan Habana after Super Rugby.

According to Die Burger, the 29-year-old has already signed a deal with the French Top 14 side and is expected to depart following this year’s Super Rugby campaign.

However, a Stormers spokesperson told keo.co.za that a statement would be made in due course.

Habana was named SA’s 2012 Player of the Year after showing great form last season and also scored the IRPA Try of the Year against the All Blacks in Dunedin during the Rugby Championship.

Toulon already have South African loose forward Joe van Niekerk and lock Bakkies Botha on their books. Former Springbok utility forward Danie Rossouw will also arrive from Suntory Sungoliath after the 2012-13 Japanese club season.

    JDV is the weak link for WP and Boks. I am surprised he has not moved onto Europe yet, but there is always hope.

    Who voted for JDV to Captain the Stormers? That’s ridiculous. It means he has to play.

    Fourie wouldn’t be a bad choice either…

    @Gumboots-53: Yip. As long as JDV gets phased out.

    He did go to Ireland, but they ended up not wanting him

    My question is what will Meyer do with JDV if F Steyn has a blinder this super season

    These legendary white wingers only got a chance to impress because black wingers weren’t picked. Since black players got picked white wingers can’t keep up. Pretty senseless to compare eras and who the best wingers are, especially when not everybody was given a fair chance.

    He’ll pick JDV at 13. I think there wouldn’t be an issue if Schalk is fit.

    Eish , can you not remember Steyn at 12 and JDV at 13 , that was his first choice combo that started first test against the Poms , Steyn got injured soon after.

    More importantly what if Elton Jantjies has a blinder at the Stormers? I heard they are practising in fast, short bursts anticipating a more New Zealand style or play.

    How does firing the backs coach, change Meyer’s primitive controlling mind? Are you saying a flamboyant backs coach like David Campese will change Meyer?

    @Rockn Rolla-62:

    He was pretty good in a kak Lions team. Will probably do him good to play with Springboks week in and week out

    Yea Meyer has done himself no favors in selecting Bulls only staff that all look up to him , he has left himself with no one that would challenge him , his tactics or selections.
