The Lions will only announce their team on Friday but Johan Ackermann is expected to make quite a few changes to give new and returning players a run. Amongst others, locks Hugo Kloppers and Gavin Anandale are expected to start with JJ Breet on the bench while Alwyn Hollenbach and Jaco Kriel may also return from injury.

BTW, it seems the Lions will also announce a new sponsor on Friday.

@wp_boytjie-5: look it does not take a genius to realise he is not takling about the Cheetahs – get real man.

@RL-6: Either stadium or the Lions Challenge I’d think. Glasfit maybe? With the money Altmann Allers have been contributing some may be converted into a sponsorship

Hope they are looking at Waltie Vermeulen as a genuine starting option as middle-jumper.

@hendrikp-10: Depends on Waltie. He decided to focus on his medical degree final year, and was terribly rusty when used in the CC. If he worked hard in the off-season he should be a candidate. He was a brilliant player before he focused mainly on his studies (which was a good decision, by the way.)

Sorry. I meant Dr Vermeulen. Congrats to him for completing his degree. Now the internship could be a rough ride. Difficult hours.

If I remember correctly Sadie was injured in the final game of the 7s tournament. Probably just want to give him a bit more time to recover.

Sadie is a bit of a sick note.I think it’s going on to two years now that he has been constantly injured.

Goosen, Rhule, Le Roux, Ebersohn all in one back line could be quite a spectacle! I doubt they’ll be overly successful with the limited quality possession supplied by the forwards, but they’ve got some silky attacking skills on display in the backs!

I think even a player like Boshoff could come into his own in such a back line.
