Bok flank returns at last
29 Jan 2013
Juan Smith will play his first match since February 2011 when the Cheetahs take on the Stormers in a pre-season friendly in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Cheetahs backline coach Hawies Fourie told Volksblad that the Springbok flank would probably get 15 minutes against the Stormers and then 30 minutes in the pre-season fixture against the Bulls. That game time would then put him in contention for the Cheetahs’ first Super Rugby match against the Sharks on 23 February.
Smith, who started training with the Cheetahs last week after finally recovering from a ruptured Achilles, is without a contract due to his long absence and will play on match fees alone.

Don’t fear the Sharks or their players Ruck, it consumes you and makes you look desperate. Not a good look on you.
Nothing negative you have to say about the Sharks will make the Stormers a better team, so rather concentrate on your team and stop worrying so much about the Sharks.

Was always a big fan of Juan, but I can’t see him playing for the Boks again… He’s had so long out of the game, I doubt he’ll be the same player plus his injury could come back at any time.
Hope I am proven wrong though.

Pay as you go with no contract usually reserved for the dodgy (injured) customers with poor credit (health) record.
I love you, Juan, you are one of the greats, but your body will crumble. Those who did not give you a contract obviously knows this.

Juan will become the Ali Williams of SA thugby
never the player he once was due to the extended time away from the game
pity, is one of the very few SA thugby players I admire
should have retired and preserved his legend.

I remember the awesome performance he put in at Soccer city 2010. A true warrior who could last the eighty…therein lies the key for players like Alberts and Vermuellen , get fit and stay hard for the eighty and you will go down in the history books with Juan Smith, well possibly….
