Cheetahs test combos

Cheetahs test combos

Naka Drotske has made 12 changes to his starting line-up for their pre-season game against the Stormers this Saturday.

Fullback Hennie Daniller, wing Jannie Boshoff and loose forward Boom Prinsloo are the only survivors from the run-on side that lost 33-17 against the Lions at Ellis Park last Saturday.

This means hooker and skipper Adriaan Strauss returns to lead the team. Outside centre Johann Sadie will also get a run, while flyhalf Riaan Smit and scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius create a new halfback combination. Speedster Rayno Benjamin will be tested at inside centre.

Flyhalf Johan Goosen and prop Coenie Oosthuizen will not be risked for the clash in Bloemfontein

Cheetahs – 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Jannie Boshoff, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Rayno Benjamin, 11 Rocco Jansen, 10 Riaan Smit, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Phillip van der Walt, 7 Davon Raubenheimer, 6 Boom Prinsloo, 5 Doppies Vermeulen, 4 Rynhardt Landman, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Adriaan Strauss (c), 1 Trevor Nyakane.

    @katman-3: Congrats to your team!! It’s wonderful that they managed to beat the 3rd choice players!! So happy for you! Welcome the Lions back to Super Rugby!!

    @Bouts-6: I can see it’s still a bit raw.

    And it was the Lions 3rd team too, by the way. Just saying.

  • 8.Dusky: Reply to this comment

    @katman-7: Precisely, but it is mos only the Cheetahs that suffer from player movement. They are the victims. Someone should make a brand of tissues especially for Cheetahs fans.

    True Dusky, but not these, they still count in the Lion challenge in Superbru, so it still hurts to drop so far so quick.
    Will be backing the Lions in these games from now on, they are not warming up, they are playing.

    @nortierd-12: Oh the Lions are out to prove a point and I have a feeling they will. Everyone has seen how competitive they are at Currie Cup level – the step up to Super rugby simply has to be a mental issue with them.

    They cant compete with the Sharks, WP and Bulls (all three in the top 6 Super rugby last year) in Currie Cup and then suddenly dwindle. There has to be some other element that is not right.

    This could be exactly what the Lions needed. Kings to get their biggest p*** klap at the hands of the Lions in that relegation game. I would take a bet.

    @nortierd-12: Superbru….you might not believe me, but by hook or by crook – a few years ago I was running 2nd in the entire thing globally until about 5 weeks left to go. Everything went pear shaped after that and I didn’t even win my pool.

  • 17.nortierd: Reply to this comment

    @Dusky-14:
    That is going to be an epic match, no warm up involved.
    Looking forward to it, maybe they will do better now that some of the players who got to big for their boots left, especially the one running around in Scotland.
    They will be back, and they have a long road, but a nice young group of players without the baggage.

    yes, but although it pains me to admit it, that Bulls side was awesome in all aspects.
    But you are right, they couldn’t buy a win at some stages and got it right. and the results speak for themself.

    Ons het diepte gehad en genoeg ondervinding opgebou, veral met twee weg semis wat ons verloor het.

    En die plaasvervangers was op daardie stadium net so goed of beter as die ou wat hy vervang het soos Bakkies met Pakslae, Hougaard met Morne en natuurlike Jaco van der Westhuizen :-P

    Jou span is ook nou daar met ondervinding en ‘n nuwe losskakel, julle moet hom hierdie jaar wen

    > Just don’t tell VictoriaBok and Bakkies I said this

    > Don’t forget. In the 90s and early 2000s – who was the South African team we used to mock ?

    Dit was een swak besluit van die bestuur wat al hulle kontantvloei ingesluk het vir ‘n paar jaar, en nadat hulle dit gedoen het, het rugby professioneel geword en hulle het nie geld gehad om salarisse te koop nie

    Dit het ook gehelp om Louis Luyt se Leeus sterk te maak want ‘n klomp NTvl spelers het vir hom gaan speel onder andere een van my gunstelinge Uli

    Die ander swak besluit was om nie vir Kitch Christie die Bulle se afrigter te maak nie

    Credit must be given where credit is due

    @nortierd-25:

    Die All Blacks is altyd goed en sommige jare baie beter as dit

    Die Kiwis speel almal dieselfde soort rugby, hulle rig dieselfde af en hulle laaities speel rugby vir die lekker en om te leer hoe om reg te speel.

    Jy kan enige twee spanne van en die helfte van elke span van en een span maak en hulle sal met ‘n dag se oefening soos een speel wat al jare saam is

    By ons het elke span sy eie manier, kan jy nou dink as jy die Stormers en die Cheetahs moet saamsmelt

    En nie een van die ander Super spanne gebruik nie Kings se “staan agter die doellyn en bestudeer die pale se verfwerk” tegniek nie :-P

    En die skole probeer mekaar uitwis op die rugbyveld

    Maar die nuwe bestuur met Rassie wat die High Performance eenheid op die been gebring het is ‘n stap in die regte rigting

    As SARU net aanhou om goeie afrigters soos HM en Rassie (en later AC en Brendon)aan te stel en nie weer ‘n politieke aanstelling soos Snor maak nie, sal ons later op ‘n meer gelyk vlak teen die AB’s kan meeding

    Ek mis vir PDivvie
    Ek mis sy persoonlikheid, sy eerlikheid en sy passion.
    Ek het niks teen Heyneke nie, hy was in 2008 die regte persoon vir die pos en as hy toe sy spelers soos Victor, Bakkies en Fourie ens. kon kies sou hy seker baie goed gedoen het, maar vir pure entertainment en eerlikheid kom niemand naby Snor nie.

    @nortierd-25:

    > to Bakkies and convince him that the NZ teams are actually bleddie good

    Ek verstaan waarvandaan hy kom, die Anglo’s staan saam, kyk daardie tyd met Truscott en Ackermann, hulle was vir drie jaar geskors maar net daarna is ‘n Kiwi speler vir dieselfde oordtreding net ‘n jaar geskors

    En met vuilspel straf hulle ons harder as die Kiwis, en die res van hulle Engelse en koloniale maatjies

    Die ref sal homself eerder ‘n geelkaart gee as vir Ritchie

    Onthou jy die ou wat vir John Smit gespear het, hy’t ook lig daarvan afgekom?

    Dis altyd ‘n geval van “Do as we say not do as we do” vir die skynheilige ou klomp en hulle hou nie daarvan as jy hulle daarop uitwys nie

    Fair enough, maar nie elke game wat hulle wen is as gevolg van kroekery nie.
    @victoriabok-29:

    HM het nou sy kans, so die spotlight is nou op hom

  • 32.victoriabok: Reply to this comment

    @nortierd-31:

    Nee, nee hulle wen nie weens kroekery nie, trouens hulle hoef nie eers te kroek nie

    Maar dit kom van die Ingelse af, die “all’s fair in love and war” plus die doen wat ons sê maar nie wat ons doen nie

    Onhou jy to die ref vir John sê om met sy spelers te gaan praat en toe hy omdraai die Iere toelaat om ‘n tikskoppie te vat en te druk en niks verkeerd sien daarmee nie?

    Die AB’s was nog altyd so, in Frik se dae al was hulle bekend daarvoor dat hulle agterlyn met die puntjie van hulle hakke op die onkantltyn staan

    En Ritchie se onkant lê en die bal op die grond speel, dis alles wettig maar nie in die gees van die spel nie

    Dis amper soos toe Chappel onderarm geboul het teen NZ in 1981 om te verhoed dat die Kiwis die wedstryd wen

    Maar waag ons nou om dit te doen?

    Dan sal jy sien hoe geskok is hulle, “how dare they?”

    Nevermaaind ou koeie, dis omdat hy met ‘n ander man se kalwers geploeg het

    Heineke se Bulle wat hy grootgemaak het van jong spelers af

    As jy so van hom hou, hoekom kry julle hom nie om die WP en Stormers af te rig nie?

  • 34.nortierd: Reply to this comment

    @victoriabok-32:
    Nie veel wat ons as toeskouers daaraan kan doen nie.
    Jannie-jammer-bal gaan ons niks in die sak bring nie.
    Hopelik kry HM die jaar die beste uit sy span en kan kies van almal wat hy wil en ons klop hulle met of sonder interference van die ref of gamesmanship.
    Ons het dit al reggekry en niks verhoed ons om dit weer te doen nie.

    en dit was Jake wat hulle gekry het om die WB te wen, nie Heyneke nie.
    Nou dat hy sy kans het sal ons sien of hy die regte man is vir die job of nie.
    Ek sal hom sy kans gee voor ek te veel sal se oor hom.
    Onthou net, hy was n hero vir julle, maar hy was ook die ou wat in die vroee 2000′s nie n wen kon koop nie en julle tot nuwe laagtes toe ook gelei het.

    Nee hy’t by ons aangekom om die Super 12 span af te rig toe ons plat was en hulle het gedink hy sal met ‘n span wat gesukkel het om nie laaste in die CC te kom nie, skielik goed doen in die Super 12

    Natuurlik sou hy nêrens kom nie en hy’t toe stading maar seker eers die CC span gebou

    Amper soos hulle nou van die Kings verwag, alhoewel die Kings se organisasie beter is en hulle beter spelers tot hulle beskikking het as wat die Bulle daardie tyd gehad het

    sheesh people…

    leave popps’ mother… and all family and parents… out of the insults… and also the continual disrespectful and demeaning references to women… let you mothers and daughters read what you write and see what they think about their son and father…

    and who the heck cares what popps thinks about south african names anyway…? we know that we have the coolest names in the world… that’s why popps talks about them… :wink:

    as for the hating on each other’s countries… returning serve or and who started it first… it’s a chicken and egg thing when the banter got outta hand and no one can say who first started it… but the fact is it’s used by people who’re just looking to get a rise and reaction out of the other side and… as popps readily admits… that’s what he’s doing…

    but the reality is it’s become pretty meaningless because it’s so repetitive and shallow… so who cares who started the craap…? what does it matter…? really…? what matter’s is how we respond and what we each say as individuals…

    point being… we can all say so-and-so was the first to jump into the cesspit… but if we jump in after them… claiming we’re better somehow because we only jumped in after they did, won’t make any difference… we’re still going to be covered in and stinking of craap…

    :lol:
