Tahs to unleash league star
29 Jan 2013
Israel Folau is set to run out for the Waratahs when they face the Rebels this weekend.
There’s been plenty of hype surrounding Folau, who has played rugby league and AFL at the highest levels. This will be his third code, and he’s been training at fullback and wing.
Ollie Atkins, Cam Crawford, Luke Holmes, Matt Lucas and Ben Volavola are also set to make their debuts for the Tahs.
Brendan McKibbin will skipper the team.
Waratahs squad for Rebels – Michael Alaalatoa, Richard Aho, Kotoni Ale, Ollie Atkins, Peter Betham, Wayne Borzak, Tom Carter, Cam Crawford, Israel Folau, Bernard Foley, Grayson Hart, Michael Hodge, Luke Holmes, Rob Horne, AJ Gilbert, Tom Kingston, Matt Lucas, Brendan McKibbin (c), Tolu Latu, Dane Maraki, Elijah Niko, Greg Peterson, Jeremy Tilse, Lopeti Timani, Peter Samu, Will Skelton, John Ulugia, Ben Volavola.

Boring! Big hype, we’ll see. Two years from now: israel who?

He’s a gifted player and if they use him well he could be a sensation for them. League converts are always unpredictable prospects though.

Wow, I hardly recognize a handful of those names.
It seems more like a Pacific Island team when reading the names of the players.

A lot of players left out there. A lot of fringe players getting a go.

If its the same Elijah Niko who played for the Junior Warriors RL team a few years ago, then the Tahs have bought a block busting winger, I have doubts whether he has the Rugby nous and subtle skills to make it at this level though.
Have your say
