Cane Cory crocked
1 Feb 2013
Hurricanes and All Blacks winger Corey Jane’s Super Rugby season is over.
Jane hurt his knee in an open training session and will undergo surgery.
‘It is devastating for Cory to have suffered this serious injury when he was looking so strong for this season following such a successful 2012. We know that CJ is focussed and dedicated to his rehabilitation. So he will be committed to working hard in his recovery to come back better and stronger,’ said Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett.
‘This is not the news we wanted to hear at the start of the season and we acknowledge the loss of a world-class player. However, we have a strong squad for 2013 and CJ’s misfortune means it’s an opportunity for another player to step up.’
Jane, the current All Blacks right wing, won’t be considered for the July internationals.

****. One player out of my fantasy league team before a ball has even been kicked.
All of the best with your rehab and recovery Mr Jane.

@The Sharks rugby pedigree is packaged as dog food-1:
Why pick Jane anyway? Does good things but hardly puts up big fantasy numbers.
Julian Savea, Ben Smith, Digby Iaone. Those 3 my ‘first-choice’ fantasy back-3.

@hendrikp-2: What website do you guys play on? If I recall Digby was very inconsistent last year… Andre Taylor was head and shoulders the highest, followed by Julian Savea, Cory wasn’t even the best Outside Back in the Canes let alone the league… But he was still near the top. Explains why the Canes are so great to watch, all three OBs are top scorers on a weekly basis!

Cape Crusaders going into mourning and blowing their noses on their All Black jerseys.

@Predawn-8:
Corey has always come across as a frail weakling.
All the best for his rehab otherwise he will be destined to get dronk with
our own alcoholic Cane in a pub somewhere in Lower Hutt every night and talk about his glory days ad nauseum.

Jane (as in Mary) is a pretty decent player though. One less to worry about in the Super 15.

Oh no, this is bad. For CJ and the Canes of course but also for the ABs.
Bring Back Zac!

I play Fox Sports.
Andre Taylor, Hosea Gear & Julian Savea were the top outside backs (Guildford was technically in the top 3 but not if you take away the play-offs – extra games played).
I say Digby Iaone because the Reds will be far more consistent I think, and he had injury problems last year.
Have your say
