SBW survives late White Buffalo onslaught
8 Feb 2013
Sonny Bill Williams beat Francois Botha on points in Brisbane after the boxing bout was controversially reduced from 12 to 10 rounds during the fight.
The former All Blacks centre was hanging on by a thread in what turned out to be the last round and would almost certainly have lost if another two rounds had been allowed.
The judges awarded the fight to Williams 97-91, 98-94 and 97-91.
‘I love Sonny Bill, but this is bullshit,’ Botha said afterwards. ‘I beat him hands free!’
Earlier, Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper won his first professional fight in a first-round knockout of Australian Barry Dunnett.
There will be repeats of both fights on SuperSport at 3pm (SS5) and 7pm (SS1).

@kaksioek-189: Have you watched it? answer honestly?? or read online posts?
8 Feb 2013, 17:44 pm
@gonzo-194: I’m not really sure what your point is. In any event, I don’t think there is a man alive who can explain this away.
Surely we can all agree that this was a farce of absurd proportions.
I have to go now, but will check back later to see if anyone has put forward a convincing explanation. I would be genuinely interested to read it.

@the curse-198: Ouch! If we are talking about intelligence, lets discuss use of written English (if English is your first language? If not, then I can understand why its so badly written):
“seems your intelligence is also representative of someones who hasnt improved..”
- should be “someone’s”
- “intelligence” is a thing, not a person, so “who” should be “that”
- Improved from what?
Are you and lawsy25 using the same “Comebacks for Dummies” book?

@Fern-200:
Mosambiek?
8 Feb 2013, 17:49 pm
@the curse-198: You are right though, I did make that comment with no” basis of proof” (sic) so I do apologise for that.
I dont know if the fight was arranged or reffed by Kiwis, or if indeed something dodgy happened.
Just strange how many times there are strange results, or strange occurrences that allow NZ to win… (including RWC 2011 – won by 1 point)
8 Feb 2013, 17:49 pm
@bokfan1-197: Wow, good for you living in England. I lived in England for 10 years also and South Africans are hated over there. Dirty ear biting, eye gougers my boss used to call you lot ( he played for England at fly half) can’t give the name.

@bokfan1-203: so, diverting to mistakes written at 3:00am in the morning.. good one..
“lets discuss use of written English ” = lets discuss THE use of written English (if youre going to correct someone, you may want to make sure that your own use is also correct )
why didnt you answer my question.
“”The lengths the Kiwis will go to cheat”
so please, provide the evidence of this statement of fact you so belligerently threw around.. if not, my original point stands.
heresay and supposition do not make your statement fact..
obviously, being the intelligent guy you are, you know this and are ready to counter my question with proof and facts right?
8 Feb 2013, 17:53 pm
@bokfan1-197: You think we were avoiding his point? He was generalising about how people from the UK generalise about Kiwis. I don’t think he really had a point besides that he hates NZers and wants to legitimise it by saying other nationalities feel the same way. I’ve heard plenty of Saffers complain about other Saffers – the rapists, the murders, politicians, the racists, the corrupt people living off the state. Can I generalise and assume all Saffers are like that?
8 Feb 2013, 17:54 pm
@bokfan1-205: Only strange because you are watching with one eye closed
8 Feb 2013, 17:55 pm

@the curse-208: Ummm I did answer it in @bokfan1-205
8 Feb 2013, 18:05 pm
@bokfan1-205: Joubert let plenty go for both sides during that final, but most wont see it that way because it doesnt sit with the whole “NZ are favoured” theory..
so be it, nothing can change the result, but if you think France, who lost two pool games, one to Tonga ffs deserved to win the World cup then fair enough.
8 Feb 2013, 18:05 pm
@lawsy25-206:
So you worked for a whinging Pom who got stuffed up to often as a England player when playing against the Boks?
Did the bite him and gauge him too?
Pity he doesn’t have a pair then he could have accused them of grabbing him by the b@lls as well, but I guess he was lucky.
8 Feb 2013, 18:05 pm
@gonzo-209: You can generalise if you want. You are not talking about sport anymore (which is what the post was about).
“I’ve heard plenty of Saffers complain about other Saffers” – not sure what the point of this was?
the post (which I didnt write) was not about kiwis complaining about kiwis, but how the rest of the sporting world views NZ in general.
8 Feb 2013, 18:05 pm
@bokfan1-213: I know, i was typing my post when you responded and as such didnt see it until after I posted… so no dramas
8 Feb 2013, 18:07 pm
@bokfan1-216: so we are to take the word of one poster, who speaks for the rest of the world?
dont they have their own opinions?
8 Feb 2013, 18:08 pm
@the curse-214: You keep believing that.
The world’s press was all about how bad and one-sided the reffing was.
Most embarrassing day to be a Saffa since the Boks acted like thugs at Twickenham in 2003.
ABs had to hold that ball at the back of the ruck for about 5 mins at the end (too scared to play it).
The question is more: Do a team that 1. beats the team that lost to Tonga, 2. beat the same team already in the pool stages & 3. has home ground advantage, yet scrapes to a 1 point victory, deserve the world cup?
8 Feb 2013, 18:09 pm
@the curse-217: its all good mate.
@the curse-218: Unfortunately it is not just 1 poster. There are 1000s of posts on this site alone (not just from Saffas) and any other rugby blog you care to visit
8 Feb 2013, 18:11 pm
@bokfan1-216: oh online rugby is sport is it. Ok, my mistake

8 Feb 2013, 18:17 pm
@gonzo-221: No, let me explain:
the post was about how kiwis are viewed when it comes to sport (cheating).
Your example about Saffas was about “rapists”, “murders”, “corrupt people” – these are not sports attributes.
Im not sure about NZ, but those are not sports in SA (although some of our citizens appear to be trying to make it a sport
)
8 Feb 2013, 18:19 pm
@bokfan1-223:
poops het al alle suid afrikaanse mans vertel hulle is rassiste,verkragters en moordenaars.
8 Feb 2013, 18:20 pm
@bokfan1-219: we’ll have to agree to disagree on that then… France impinged on many occassions that Joubert also let go, so I think it evened out in the end..
07 was farcical, and if you think Barnes was “fair” that day then nothing I can say will change that (and no, not because of one forward pass).. 2 penalties by a team defending constantly with 30% posession, yet not one penalty in the second half?
Im sure that there are also 1000s of posters worldwide who dont think highly of SA either, and its usually people from countries who have poor records against our teams..
if the English, irish and Welsh beat NZ more regularly do you think their supporters would feel the same way? of course not, its like the many Saffas who feel without question NZ are favoured..
yet at soccer city, NZ didnt receive a penalty until the 60th minute, was this seriously fair reffing that day?
8 Feb 2013, 18:25 pm
@Fern-153: does it use a lot of bandwith. Im in the sticks and not easy to reload the cap
8 Feb 2013, 18:26 pm
@bokfan1-223: I must have misread it, thinking it was just another anti-Kiwi rant. So you’re telling me it was specific to Kiwis being cheats at sport, not anything broader than that. Ok, I got it.
Do you realise how bitter and twisted you seem? SA loses the QF and it’s the fault of the Kiwi ref. NZ wins the final and they cheated but no mention of the Saffer ref.
8 Feb 2013, 18:26 pm
@Fern-224: net soos jy dink al die kiwi&’s is alkoholiste, vrou stokke en pleeg selfmoord wanneer ons &’n rugby wedstryd verloor

@gonzo-227:
How bitter and twisted I seem? I didnt write the post mate.
“SA loses the QF and it’s the fault of the Kiwi ref.” – it was 70% ref’s fault. The Boks shouldve scored more and shouldve scored a try to put it beyond doubt. They shouldve passed more backwards.
“NZ wins the final and they cheated but no mention of the Saffer ref” – Again, it was in my post bokfan1-219. The first thing I mentioned is the ref. Joubert did not police McCaw (and the NZ pack in general) and he was probably over-awed by the occasion.
However, which ref on earth wouldve been held “responsible” for NZ losing that final? After all the strings had been pulled to give NZ a World Cup, and a (loaded) chance of actually winning the cup.
No ref that wanted a future career at the IRB woudlve penalised NZ properly or given McCaw a yellow.
