1. The Australian Boxing Federation was part of the sham fight for a bogus title, probably by virtue of its general tardiness in oversight & control, & its readiness to pass the buck to the promoters & the WBA, & wash its hands of the whole affair;
2. A great many boxing stakeholders have been scammed in this sting;
3. At the very least Botha’s promoter, Tinus Strydom, by admitting that shortly before the commencement of the bout he agreed to the change of the fight from 12 to 10 rounds, is complicit in the fraud perpetrated;
4. It is not clear whether Botha and his corner man were in on the con – Botha certainly did not fight as if he was “throwing” the fight, but I can’t ignore that possibility;
5. There are (as yet unconfirmed) reports that Botha has tested positive for prohibited substances; if true, then he is a fraud as well, if not, then he was a victim that was sought to be discredited & almost certainly not a part of the sting;
6. It looks increasingly as though this disgraceful scam was perpetrated at promoter level, but it will not surprise if it extended to other levels as well;
7. Nobody involved seems to be covered in glory.

I do still question your apparent assumption that sbw is guilty by association…

he has wanted to box and his manager has organized the fights… I don’t believe sbw has sat in meetings plotting reducing rounds etc to give him the advantage…

he may be guilty of unquestioned trust… of being naive… of being stupid… of not connecting the dots…

but none of that makes him guilty of conspiracy to fix fights in his favour … and I don’t believe the burden of proof should be his to prove his innocence… IMO it should be even more necessary for those making allegations against sbw to come up with facts and evidence to prove he was on the grassy knoll…

I hold NZ rugby in the highest regard. I think they play a beautiful brand of rugby and that they set the benchmark.The All Blacks are the best. The only other sporting codes that interest me are cricket, soccer and boxing. I have no negative feelings about NZ cricket or soccer, or about New Zealanders generally. And until Friday, New Zealland boxing did not enter my mind. Friday’s events made me examine NZ boxing … and it left me surprised … and quite frankly, shocked.

NZ professional boxing seems to be a shambles typified by conflicts of interest, nepotism, & sporadic incidents of dubious decisions & wilful misrepresentation of bouts as officially sanctioned international title fights.

It seems that there are two NZ professional boxing bodies of control, the NZNBF (the New Zealand National Boxing Federation) and the NZPBA (the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association). There appears to be no love lost between the two bodies, and the latter body (the NZPBA) appears to be the stronger.

Lance Revill is the current president of the NZPBA. He is also a New Zealand boxing promoter and referee.

Lance has four children: Lance Jacob (known as Jake – also a professional boxer) Revill, Lisa Ann Hohneck, Tanya Colleen Revill and Kylie Denise Bell. Kylie is listed as an official of the NZPBA on their website & she is also a professional boxing judge. Another NZPBA judge & referee, Andrew Bell, I assume to be a relative of Kylie Bell (perhaps her husband?) & Lance Revill. Kylie and Andrew Bell periodically act as joint referees (on the same panel) in professional boxing matches sanctioned by the NZPBA.

Jake Revill has had 6 undefeated professional fights: His 1st fight was refereed by Andrew Bell, and Kylie Bell was a judge. Andrew Bell officiated as judge in his 2nd fight, & Kylie Bell was a judge in his 6th fight. In at least one of Jake Revill’s fights staged under the auspices of the NZPBA of which Jake’s father, Lance Revill, is the President, the self-same Lance Revill, was also the promoter, & Jake’s sister, Kylie Bell was one of the judges. The mind boggles!

On 2 February 2008, in Cebu City, Philippines, Lance Revill refereed the Z Gorres-Vic Darchinyan IBF Super Flyweight title eliminator. Gorres slipped to the canvas in the first round, ruled a knockdown by Revill, triggering a bottle throwing melee from the pro-Filipino crowd for the first two rounds. Gorres knocked down Darchinyan in the second, but when Darchinyan knocked down Gorres in the fifth, referee Revill ruled it a slip. Darchinyan spent the entire bout pushing and shoving Gorres, with Gorres thrown to the canvas a number of times. A head butt by Darchinyan cut the forehead of Gorres in the sixth round. Referee Revill never penalized Darchinyan during the bout, and the bloody head cut of Gorres continued to bleed profusely for the remainder of the bout without the ringside physician being called in to examine the wound. Darchinyan knocked down Gorres a number of times in the last three rounds, ruled slips by Revill. The bout resulted in a draw. After the bout, even Darchinyan’s promoter, Gary Shaw of New Jersey based Gary Shaw Productions, CALLED FOR THE PERMANENT BANNING OF REFEREE REVILL FROM PROFESSIONAL BOXING AFTER THE FIGHT, as did some individuals at ringside, CALLING REFEREE REVILL’S PERFORMANCE THE WORST THEY HAD EVER WITNESSED.

On 28 August 2010, a bout which was the main event of A FIGHT CARD PROMOTED BY LANCE REVILL in Pakuranga, New Zealand, resulted in YET ANOTHER CONTROVERSY INVOLVING REVILL. THE MAIN EVENT BOUT between heavyweights Hassan Chitsaz and John Ellis Jr., arranged by Las Vegas boxing promoter John Ellis Sr. of South Bay Promotions (the father of John Ellis Jr.), WAS ANNOUNCED IN THE RING BY THE RING ANNOUNCER BEFORE THE BOUT AS A WORLD PROFESSIONAL BOXING FEDERATION VACANT INTERNATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE BOUT, AT SIX ROUNDS. According to an official reply sent to the New Zealand Boxing Association dated 6 September 2010, World Professional Boxing Federation President David Young stated that THE SIX (6) ROUNDS BOUT between Hassan Chitsaz and John Ellis Jr. WAS NEVER OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED BY WPBF PRESIDENT Mr. David Young as a WPBF Inter-Continental or International Title, who also stated WPBF RULED MANDATORY ALL TITLE BOUTS AT 12 ROUNDS. According to Mr. Young, “The WPBF hereby specially certify that the six (6) rounds bout between Hassan Chitsaz and John Ellis Jr. for the WPBF title has not been officially approved and sanctioned by the WPBF President. Notice is hereby given.” As the bout was misrepresented as a title bout to both the NZPBA and boxer Chitsaz (who traveled from California to New Zealand only for a 12 round WPBF title bout), the circumstances and outcome of the bout are currently under appeal and review by Mr. Chitsaz with NZPBA official Kylie Revill Bell and the WPBF. In addition, Chitsaz was never paid for the bout and pursued legal action. Thus: the alleged misrepresentation to Mr Chitza AND the NZPBA by promoter Mr Lance Revill (who also doubles as NZPBA President) is under appeal by Mr Chitsaz to Mrs Kylie Bell, the daughter of the self-same Mr Lance Revill …… Consider this: Mr Revill the promoter inter alia made a misrepresentation to himself as President of the NZPBA!

This self-same Mr Lance Revill was the referee of SBW’s two New Zealand domiciled fights. And his daughter, Kylie Bell, as well as Andrew Bell were judges in SBW’s 1st fight.

SBW fights:

Williams has only fought bouts in Queensland (4) & in New Zealand (2) & all of his fights have been promoted by Nasser.
In 3 of SBW’s 6 fights the duration of the fights have been shortened without due notice to several interested parties. This is a pattern of behaviour which I have never seen before.
1st 3 fights refereed by the same referee (2 of those 3 bouts were ended by the referee on TKO).
Next 2 fights refereed by the same referee, Revill (1 of those 2 bouts was ended by the referee on TKO).
The same 2 judges (from 3) feature in his 1st 3 fights.
In his 4th fight 2 of the judges as well as the referee appear to be related.
Another judge officiated in both his 1st and 6th fights.

Make of this what you wish, but I present it to those interested as background information to Friday’s debacle of a fight.

And if I can find all of this info online without ever having visited New Zealand, without having any prior knowledge of NZ boxing, & without harbouring any ill feelings towards NZ, one can safely accept that Nasser & SBW are fully aware of this state of affairs, and are prepared to exploit this situation to their own advantage & to the detriment of others.

BTW:
The last heavyweight title match scheduled for 10 rounds had been the September 22, 1927 bout between Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey.
The last heavyweight 15-rounder title fight was a rematch on April 11, 1986 between Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks.
Since then ALL international heavyweight title bouts have been an obligatory 12 rounds. Do any of you honestly believe that, as regards Friday’s fight, any of the sanctioning bodies, any of the fighters & their corners, any of the promoters, any of the judges, & the referee did not know as a fact that Friday’s title bout had a compulsory duration of 12 rounds?

Res ipsa loquitur applies and the circumstantial evidence shifts the burden of proving no fraudulent wrongdoing upon Nasser/SBW.
