Sharks lash lousy Leopards
8 Feb 2013
The Sharks shook off the rust with a 71-8 pre-season win against the Leopards in Pietermaritzburg on Friday night.
John Plumtree’s men led 31-3 at the break after tries to flyhalf Pat Lambie, flanker Jacques Botes, right wing Odwa Ndungane, No 8 Tera Mtembu and left wing Lwazi Mvovo. The visitors’ points came from the boot of flyhalf Johnny Welthagen.
The Sharks continued to dominate after the break with Mvovo and Botes each getting a second, and flanker Jean Deysel, captain Frans Steyn and loosehead prop Allan Dell also crossing the whitewash.
The Leopards finally scored a try through replacement Elardus Venter, but the Sharks had the final say when Mtembu scored his second of the night just before full-time.
Lambie slotted five conversions for the Sharks and replacment Meyer Bosman three.

@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-43:
That’s just plain disgusting!!!
9 Feb 2013, 13:02 pm
@Predawn-48: I was at the match last night, Sharks could have scored atleast another 8 tries, but for a knock or 2, bad pass.
Reinach came on whilst Mcleod went off for a blood injured, he made break after break, this kid is an exceptional talent.
Lambie and Steyn combined very well

Daniel Kankow Mtembu Sithole Mvovo Whitehead Ndungane Jordaan should all be plying their trade for their home provinces not this bloody money circus of unscrupulous boom shaka laka bloodmoney suctions then you see where true rugby breed brethren cuts. Professional profiteers are f’ng sport every which way everywhere no more nor less in Sharkishits country.
Steyn Viljoen Du Plessis (B & J) Reinach Bosman Deysel should be plying their skills back otherside the Drakensberg and Alberts Ludick MaCleod Botes back in GL country while Steph Du Toil JPP Hoffman back in the mother country then the last white colonial outpost would be honestly sporting the brave exploits of the little Lamb Chadwick and Burden the sum total of the might of the blackwhite strike force which would showcase their true credentials in rugby. Like I said before Kzn is good old sugar cane soccer country that’s what they’re good at there Zulu boys like the round ball game leave the Xhosa kids to ply their homegrown skills where they learned them in Cheekyshit country not in chickenshit Sharkishits country.
9 Feb 2013, 13:06 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-53:
What did you make of Steyn as a leader? Do you think he’ll be up to it if Keegan is not available when the competition starts?
9 Feb 2013, 13:09 pm
Zulu boys proved to be no good at the round ball game for the past few hundred seasons…
9 Feb 2013, 13:10 pm
@Predawn-54:
No, no, no.
You said and I quote:”The Sharks can put together two full teams of first class players…”
Post the two teams, not the full squad. Every S15 franchise has the same amount of players in their squad that can be regarded as first class players.
Give us two TEAMS.
9 Feb 2013, 13:11 pm
@Predawn-54: I will put together the teams , lol
@nama1-52: Disgusting does not even come close to describing how sick this is.
Everyday day that goes by I believe more and more that the Death penalty should come back
What did this Granny do to deserve this?? her LIfe is ruined, or any of the others????
9 Feb 2013, 13:14 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-59:
Forget about the death penalty. Convict the f.uckers first.
9 Feb 2013, 13:15 pm
@nama1-58:
That’s them. Throw in the odd up and coming player to replace due to injuries from the B squad and you have two teams ready to take on any franchise.
That is also not the complete squad. There are still players being drafted as we speak.
9 Feb 2013, 13:16 pm
Just Google it.
9 Feb 2013, 13:20 pm
Mjekevu another Xhosa kid should go play rugby for his home province not the last bastion mogul bloody money foreign legion.
Franco Vd Merwe Juandre and Peet Marais and Wiehern Herbst and Jean Luc Du Plessis ook.
Then Lambi bambi Chadwick Cooper Coetsee and Butcher boy can fly the flag for the bananarama rugby republic.
9 Feb 2013, 13:22 pm
You tell them. They should all go back post haste.
9 Feb 2013, 13:24 pm
@skopdiekan-55:
And Kolisi?
What about him?
Still cracks me up that you’re just a wee Jewish fella from fishhoek.
9 Feb 2013, 13:25 pm
@Predawn-61:
You can still draft players?
I thought the registration of the squads, and the reserve squad members, have been done ages ago. Afa I understand it you can only draft players this late, or in the middle of the season, in special circumstances like when Stormers ran out of loose forward last year. What’s wrong with your squad? You don’t have faith in the players you registered?
Where are you drafting them from? The Kings?
9 Feb 2013, 13:26 pm
@John Galt-65:
don’t tell me skopshyte is a wit ou.
9 Feb 2013, 13:27 pm
@Predawn-67:
As white as the driven snow my man.
9 Feb 2013, 13:27 pm
@nama1-66:
Where do you see The Sharks short of players? I see two full teams.
9 Feb 2013, 13:30 pm
I have images of a short person with a club foot and bad acne scars.

9 Feb 2013, 13:33 pm
@John Galt-65: do through the whole WP team and the most again also come from all over the country, that’s why I ignore it, he is delusional.
9 Feb 2013, 13:35 pm
@John Galt-65:
Did you see that Paul Adams, in his 1st season as coach, won the Sunfoil 4 day series with the Cobras after sharing the One Day trophy with the Lions, where Geoffrey Tohonyane (sp) is also in his 1st year as coach. Coincidentally, the Lions were also the only team who could possibly pip the Cobras for the title in the Sunfoil series.
Not bad for two “quota appointments”, don’t you think?
9 Feb 2013, 13:36 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-71: Add to that list the likes of Cooper, Mjekevu,
9 Feb 2013, 13:43 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-74:
Add to that Fred Zeilinga, Franco Marais, lol as I am sitting here the names keep popping up
9 Feb 2013, 13:44 pm
@nama1-73: Ok there is 2 full teams
9 Feb 2013, 13:45 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-74:
I can never remember all those names. If they were female I’d even remember their bra sizes.
Fact is….two first class teams.
9 Feb 2013, 13:45 pm
@nama1-73: bollocks. The senior players are coaching the team.
9 Feb 2013, 13:46 pm
@nama1-73:
I was wondering why WP signed Steyn and before that Boucher and the other guys who’d moved to the Warriors. They’re all Proteas and WP hardly ever see them. It doesn’t make sense financially.
9 Feb 2013, 13:47 pm
besides the 2 full teams the other names I mentioned are backup and that’s 14 names, now I can go further and check through the VC squad and post more names.
9 Feb 2013, 13:49 pm
@Predawn-69:
Why are you still drafting players?
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-71:
Team 1 look decent and will definitely be competitive in the S15. Will most probably end between 6-8 in the competition. That’s as far (high) on the log as I can see them go.
Team 2? Not so much.
Decent back row. Decent half back pair. Decent back three.
Where it matter most, the tight 5, awa the midfield pair do not fill one with any confidence at all. They will get moered in the S15 all day long. The Rebels, the Force and even the Kings will fancy their chances against that team.
The Lions at their worst would’ve given them a hiding…oh wait a minute here… did not a kak Lions team beat the best that the Sharks could offer last year?
It’s not about 1st class players. Never was.
Your friend suggested that the Sharks could field TWO competitive teams in the S15. Clearly you cannot.
9 Feb 2013, 13:51 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-80:
nama has gone ominously quiet.
9 Feb 2013, 13:52 pm
JUst to name another 5 lol
Monde Hadebe Hooker Junior Bok
Danie Mienie Prop Junior Bok
Brendon Groenewald
Brynard Stander
Chris Jordaan
9 Feb 2013, 13:54 pm
@nama1-81:
Nope definitely two first class teams.
Team two would kill on any given day. Burden is an extra loosie. 95% of the second team have played Super 15 if you recall.
9 Feb 2013, 13:55 pm
@John Galt-65: wtf are you. You sound suspiciously like one of those displaced derelict last bastion white colonial hopping hopers hanging on for dear life to your dwindling displaced delusional empirical deficiency… dumb bloody blimey limey sucking on the blood money unscrupulous racketeering you so famous for.
Kolisi should go back to EP like his other brethren playing for the Sharkishits and Bullshit brigades up north. Potties 1&2, Engelbrecht Serfontein Ndungane Mapoe Kirchner Basson Stegman Steyn etc.
Then give WP back all our home grown boys Steph Du Toit JPP Pollard Hougard Kruger Vd Merwe Sadie etcetera. Then we see who’s who in the zoo and who sucking hind titties.
Guaranteed WP EP FS and GP come out smiling. Sharkishits and Bullshit brethren will be fighting it out for last place in SA s15 status.
9 Feb 2013, 13:56 pm
Nama, just because you don’t rate a player does not mean he is not good,
I do not rate quite a few WP players, does not mean to say they are not good and cannot be competitive, like Brok??
That 2nd team of the Sharks would actually do very well besides your dislike of them,
Now I did not post it to brag as I am sure some will suggest later on, but purely to answer your question
9 Feb 2013, 13:56 pm
@David-79:
It doesn’t at all.
Guess they play a mentoring role in the nets when they are at home because they hardly ever play for the Cobras. I don’t know if Kallis played even ONE game since he returned from the Warriors a few years ago.
Keep in mind that players like Henry Davids, Behardien, Tsolekile started their careers at the Cobras and that they were in the national squads this season while playing for other franchises. Tells you about the talent in the Cape.
Trott, Kieswetter playing for England.
9 Feb 2013, 13:58 pm
@Predawn-82:
Why are you still drafting players?
9 Feb 2013, 13:59 pm
@Predawn-84: I have mentioned 49 players, covering all positions
you need 46 for that to included the reserves as well lol
Only 2 of those 49 have never donned a Sharks CC or SR jersey
9 Feb 2013, 14:00 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-86:
Rugby is not about “a player” It’s a team sport that relies heavily on combination.
Do you really want to tell me that you have faith in that tight 5 of your team 2?
Really, really?
9 Feb 2013, 14:04 pm
Just saw on Supersport news that Jan Ellis, former Bok flanker, died from cancer at the age of 71.
Bought my first pair of togs in his sport shop in Windhoek in 1974. Always admired him until I learned that he refused to lead a Invitational team against the ’76 All Blacks because it was a mixed team.
R.I.P. anyhow.
9 Feb 2013, 14:05 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-89:
Not a bad collection of players. It’s just amazing that your Sharks A side didn’t beat the WP B team in the CC final.
9 Feb 2013, 14:05 pm
@nama1-90: That same front row played the whole CC for the Sharks and were very good, who ended on top of the Log?? See the thing here is because you don’t rate them?
I don’t rate Brok, does that mean he is a bad player??? see here is exactly what I mentioned to you earlier, just like you rate your players in the WP so too we rate our players
9 Feb 2013, 14:07 pm
@John Galt-68: yellow snow. Too much lentils give you that jaundiced look
9 Feb 2013, 14:07 pm
@David-92: ON the day with lick anything can happen, here is a fact, in 7 matches last year between the teams the sharks won 5
consistency tell you something??
AND in all my posts have you seen once where I knocked your team or any other team???
See the points us sharks supporters make in here are proven correct time after time
9 Feb 2013, 14:09 pm
@David-92: Forgot to mention you forget we had our own injured players out,
But hey DUDE what ever floats your boat.
9 Feb 2013, 14:10 pm
@nama1-88:
I am not..but I guess The Sharks aren’t either. Did you make a point there? You get rugby kenners then you get rugby supporters. Is your dad stronger than mine?
@nama1-90:
The combinations surely are not written in stone. There are several more combinations. When last did you see vd Merwe and Jandre Marais play? Deysel and Burden are brilliant players…who would not have faith in them.
9 Feb 2013, 14:10 pm
OK im off to go watch the Lions KIngs match, atleast there will be some tries scored
9 Feb 2013, 14:10 pm
Jeez Keo! A thread on the Lions/Kings game will probably generate 1 000 comments just because the Watsons are involved.
Come on now. The game starts in 5 minutes. Let’s have it.
9 Feb 2013, 14:11 pm
@Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-98: what time does it start?
