Sharks lash lousy Leopards

The Sharks shook off the rust with a 71-8 pre-season win against the Leopards in Pietermaritzburg on Friday night.

John Plumtree’s men led 31-3 at the break after tries to flyhalf Pat Lambie, flanker Jacques Botes, right wing Odwa Ndungane, No 8 Tera Mtembu and left wing Lwazi Mvovo. The visitors’ points came from the boot of flyhalf Johnny Welthagen.

The Sharks continued to dominate after the break with Mvovo and Botes each getting a second, and flanker Jean Deysel, captain Frans Steyn and loosehead prop Allan Dell also crossing the whitewash.

The Leopards finally scored a try through replacement Elardus Venter, but the Sharks had the final say when Mtembu scored his second of the night just before full-time.

Lambie slotted five conversions for the Sharks and replacment Meyer Bosman three.

@Predawn-48: I was at the match last night, Sharks could have scored atleast another 8 tries, but for a knock or 2, bad pass.

Reinach came on whilst Mcleod went off for a blood injured, he made break after break, this kid is an exceptional talent.

Lambie and Steyn combined very well

Daniel Kankow Mtembu Sithole Mvovo Whitehead Ndungane Jordaan should all be plying their trade for their home provinces not this bloody money circus of unscrupulous boom shaka laka bloodmoney suctions then you see where true rugby breed brethren cuts. Professional profiteers are f’ng sport every which way everywhere no more nor less in Sharkishits country.

Steyn Viljoen Du Plessis (B & J) Reinach Bosman Deysel should be plying their skills back otherside the Drakensberg and Alberts Ludick MaCleod Botes back in GL country while Steph Du Toil JPP Hoffman back in the mother country then the last white colonial outpost would be honestly sporting the brave exploits of the little Lamb Chadwick and Burden the sum total of the might of the blackwhite strike force which would showcase their true credentials in rugby. Like I said before Kzn is good old sugar cane soccer country that’s what they’re good at there Zulu boys like the round ball game leave the Xhosa kids to ply their homegrown skills where they learned them in Cheekyshit country not in chickenshit Sharkishits country.

    No, no, no.

You said and I quote:”The Sharks can put together two full teams of first class players…”

Post the two teams, not the full squad. Every S15 franchise has the same amount of players in their squad that can be regarded as first class players.

    Give us two TEAMS.

That’s them. Throw in the odd up and coming player to replace due to injuries from the B squad and you have two teams ready to take on any franchise.

That is also not the complete squad. There are still players being drafted as we speak.

  • 62.Predawn: Reply to this comment

Mjekevu another Xhosa kid should go play rugby for his home province not the last bastion mogul bloody money foreign legion.

Franco Vd Merwe Juandre and Peet Marais and Wiehern Herbst and Jean Luc Du Plessis ook.

Then Lambi bambi Chadwick Cooper Coetsee and Butcher boy can fly the flag for the bananarama rugby republic.

    You can still draft players?

I thought the registration of the squads, and the reserve squad members, have been done ages ago. Afa I understand it you can only draft players this late, or in the middle of the season, in special circumstances like when Stormers ran out of loose forward last year. What’s wrong with your squad? You don’t have faith in the players you registered?

Where are you drafting them from? The Kings?

Did you see that Paul Adams, in his 1st season as coach, won the Sunfoil 4 day series with the Cobras after sharing the One Day trophy with the Lions, where Geoffrey Tohonyane (sp) is also in his 1st year as coach. Coincidentally, the Lions were also the only team who could possibly pip the Cobras for the title in the Sunfoil series.

Not bad for two “quota appointments”, don’t you think?

    @Sharks_are_gonna_get_you-71:
Team 1 look decent and will definitely be competitive in the S15. Will most probably end between 6-8 in the competition. That’s as far (high) on the log as I can see them go.

    Team 2? Not so much.
Decent back row. Decent half back pair. Decent back three.

Where it matter most, the tight 5, awa the midfield pair do not fill one with any confidence at all. They will get moered in the S15 all day long. The Rebels, the Force and even the Kings will fancy their chances against that team.

The Lions at their worst would’ve given them a hiding…oh wait a minute here… did not a kak Lions team beat the best that the Sharks could offer last year?

It’s not about 1st class players. Never was.

Your friend suggested that the Sharks could field TWO competitive teams in the S15. Clearly you cannot.

Kolisi should go back to EP like his other brethren playing for the Sharkishits and Bullshit brigades up north. Potties 1&2, Engelbrecht Serfontein Ndungane Mapoe Kirchner Basson Stegman Steyn etc.

Then give WP back all our home grown boys Steph Du Toit JPP Pollard Hougard Kruger Vd Merwe Sadie etcetera. Then we see who’s who in the zoo and who sucking hind titties.

Guaranteed WP EP FS and GP come out smiling. Sharkishits and Bullshit brethren will be fighting it out for last place in SA s15 status.

Nama, just because you don’t rate a player does not mean he is not good,

I do not rate quite a few WP players, does not mean to say they are not good and cannot be competitive, like Brok??

That 2nd team of the Sharks would actually do very well besides your dislike of them,
Now I did not post it to brag as I am sure some will suggest later on, but purely to answer your question

    @David-79:
    It doesn’t at all.

Guess they play a mentoring role in the nets when they are at home because they hardly ever play for the Cobras. I don’t know if Kallis played even ONE game since he returned from the Warriors a few years ago.

Keep in mind that players like Henry Davids, Behardien, Tsolekile started their careers at the Cobras and that they were in the national squads this season while playing for other franchises. Tells you about the talent in the Cape.

    Trott, Kieswetter playing for England.

Rugby is not about “a player” It’s a team sport that relies heavily on combination.

Just saw on Supersport news that Jan Ellis, former Bok flanker, died from cancer at the age of 71.

Bought my first pair of togs in his sport shop in Windhoek in 1974. Always admired him until I learned that he refused to lead a Invitational team against the ’76 All Blacks because it was a mixed team.

    R.I.P. anyhow.
