Professor Jake’s back in classroom

Professor Jake’s back in classroom

Jake White wil trade his whistle for the professor’s podium as part of a plan to make the University of Canberra the world’s best sporting institution.

The Canberra Times reported White will be named as an adjunct professor where the Brumbies coach will give lectures, help with course development and add technical expertise.

The Brumbies will move their base to the university in 2014.

White will join Canberra Capitals leader Carrie Graf and Wallabies and Brumbies great Joe Roff at the university.

Graf is the UC’s coach-in-residence, while Roff is the chief executive of the university union.

‘I was a physical education teacher [before I became a coach] and I never dreamed of becoming an adjunct professor,’ he said. ‘It will be fantastic, it’s an opportunity for me to share some of my experiences. UC talks about being the best in sports and having that hub … if it means I can stimulate some coaches or guys in the sports world then it’s fantastic.

‘When you’re a coach you’re a teacher anyway, teaching rugby to 35 players. It’s part of your make-up.’

White, who won the 2007 World Cup with the Boks, rejuvenated the Brumbies in 2012. The team finished one place off a play-off. In this season’s tournament they hammered the Reds 24-6 and travel to Melbourne to play the Rebels on Friday.

How long before Jake takes citizenship? He seems to be thriving over there. Even playing fetchers now…

    Skop will not like this……

compared with Puff Divvy, if he were in canberra….they’d put him in charge of the looney bin.

In CT…they make him head of the affirmative action uni.

    go figure

@Brigadier Van Zyl-3: And yet, Richie McCaw wanted to see what made the Boks tick in 2009. Seems there was a method in the madness.

They are no longer considered as the University of the Wild Coloureds.

After his recent rants about Luyt and guilt/whatever, Keo could also be headed for varsity – check, one of these days he could be on a shelf, in a bottle, in a varsity science lab!

@Brigadier Van Zyl-11: He could’ve visited the Bulls changeroom, Fact is, the laager mentality was fully intact. No outsiders. Fact is, he chose the Boks changeroom. I’m just waiting for him to visit Heyneke’s Boks’ changeroom.

    Well done Proffesor White

  • 18.pompies2: Reply to this comment

@Brigadier Van Zyl-13: Whatever they did or took from the Boks’ changeroom worked. Perhaps the Boks shouldn’t have been so open in sharing motivation.

PDV said from day 1 he would try to make the Boks a team which belonged to everyone in SA and a team they would be proud of.

and yet all he caused is huge drama withregards to the continued selection of smit, laughable media statements, etc.

and at the same time the core of his squad were crunching everyone at superrugby level.

Jake White…another skilled professional that left South Africa for Oz.

Can’t we swop him for Hoskins and Pieter duh Villiers please? The Aussies can feel what it’s like to have a good old fashioned dose of new South Africa affirmative action.

Affirmitive action university this, coloured university that and boere university this??? Guys, this is a pure disgrace! I deeply hope you have no real involvement whatsoever in rugby on this planet. Its your prejudice that keeps the SA administrators tightly wound around race and making bad decisions in the name of transformation. Wake up and realise you just keep perpetuating madness…in 2013 nogal! Please grow up already!

  • 41.Dusky: Reply to this comment

@I am a stormer-36: Ag sorry dude. I didn’t look properly what you were referring to. No – nothing to do with a matric certificate. This one got through the interview and HR checks with a fake university degree. There are a lot of North Africans streaming into South Africa with fake qualifications. It is the new 419 scam.

@Smallzm-38: good idea. Let’s all keep quiet about racist affirmative action and watch academic standards decline dramatically. Just like the proverbial frog in a slowly heated beaker.

Jake’s a rugby genius. Stupid SA supporters couldnt see it or appreciate him.

Funny how the intelligent Aussies do!!

  • 45.Mike H: Reply to this comment

Skop has never seen a classroom. Really, the internet should have a ****** filter so idiots like skopskiet can sit at home and talk to themselves rather.

  • 46.Mike H: Reply to this comment

And I say intelligent Aussies, because that’s the common way most people drscribe their teams, low on brawn high in IQ.

I actually agree, they traditionally make up for the lack of brute with brain. Seeing as Rugby Union isnt nearly the most popular sport in Aus they do darn well at it

  • 47.Smallzm: Reply to this comment

@Shaun B-43 Shame. Always with the racist affirmative action that has to be fought tooth and nail…till the bitter end.sounds like you are still in a struggle of your own.that chip on the shoulder weighing you down? Can a school still be a school our a university…just a university? The standards are getting poorer in some institutions but distinguishing them by race is base level thinking. why would you want to see then like this? They might as well be the learning cards used to reach 4 year Olds about

  • 48.Smallzm: Reply to this comment
