Professor Jake’s back in classroom

Jake White wil trade his whistle for the professor’s podium as part of a plan to make the University of Canberra the world’s best sporting institution.

The Canberra Times reported White will be named as an adjunct professor where the Brumbies coach will give lectures, help with course development and add technical expertise.

The Brumbies will move their base to the university in 2014.

White will join Canberra Capitals leader Carrie Graf and Wallabies and Brumbies great Joe Roff at the university.

Graf is the UC’s coach-in-residence, while Roff is the chief executive of the university union.

‘I was a physical education teacher [before I became a coach] and I never dreamed of becoming an adjunct professor,’ he said. ‘It will be fantastic, it’s an opportunity for me to share some of my experiences. UC talks about being the best in sports and having that hub … if it means I can stimulate some coaches or guys in the sports world then it’s fantastic.

‘When you’re a coach you’re a teacher anyway, teaching rugby to 35 players. It’s part of your make-up.’

White, who won the 2007 World Cup with the Boks, rejuvenated the Brumbies in 2012. The team finished one place off a play-off. In this season’s tournament they hammered the Reds 24-6 and travel to Melbourne to play the Rebels on Friday.

In closing it is a crying shame that race is still a factor but the racist ANC seem intent to keep racial divisions alive. It suits them. The sheeple vote against the wit gevaar of the evil colonialist imperialist capitalist invaders.

Indeed ShaunB, if people voted on delivery they’d be thrown out of power by now

@ShaunB-49: If you continue to see the country like this (ie. black, white, coloured institutions) then don’t complain when authorities respond with affirmative action policies. Although misguided, that’s how they are trying to deal with these kinds of perceptions. Especially in rugby. Do you think its OK to see life in this racially categorised way? This so called “unblinkered view” which mentions race at every possible turn? Is this kind of talk actually getting us anywhere?

Can’t believe SARU didn’t see the value of Jake White and did everything to knock him off hiosis perch. Look how professional the Ozzies are! White seems to be flourishing on Oz, don’t be suprised if one day he is coaching the Wallabies!!!

THis is why there is no continuity in SA rugby, whenever a Bok coach is let go the new coach has to start from scratch, which why the Boks are so inconsistent!!
