Blues get their bite back
The Blues have been hailed in the New Zealand press for their upset victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday, which was a brilliant start to Sir John Kirwan’s coaching career at the Blues.
The Blues looked the more attacking side from the outset, but the expectancy of the Hurricanes winning the match was always there, until the Blues scored two quick tries in the latter half of the match to set up a brilliant five point victory to lead the New Zealand conference.
The Blues now host the Crusaders in Auckland, and speculation is rife that the Crusaders will not be able to come away with a victory.
The Crusaders are the last team to start their Super Rugby campaign having had a bye in the first full round of matches, and will have it all to do against Kirwan’s charges.
Chiefs expect another good year
The Chiefs started Super Rugby 2013 where they stopped in 2012, beating the Highlanders away from home.
Much of the preseason talk around the Chiefs revolved around the lack of the surprise factor and being the target team, as well as the loss of Sonny Bill Williams.
But none of that affected the team who started well against the Highlanders in a tough opening encounter, and will take confidence into their second match against the Cheetahs in Hamilton.

Underestimate the Crusaders at your own peril.
