Three lost to Bulls’ cause

Three lost to Bulls’ cause

The Bulls lose two loose forwards ahead of the Force match this weekend.

Supersport’s Brendel Nel reports that the Bulls have lost three players to injury following their win over the Stormers on Friday night, with the worst of the lot being Dewald Potgieter, picking up a grade 2 medial knee ligament injury which rules him out for between two and four weeks.

Deon Stegmann has a hamstring strain while JJ Engelbrecht has hip flexor problem. Both will go for scans today to determine the full extent of the injury.

Initially it was feared Potgieter could miss the Bulls tour of New Zealand and Australia but the player tweeted the injury would not mean him missing the tour.

The Bulls leave on Sunday.

Further news on the injury front sees Jan Serfontein having stiff quadriceps and will not train until Wednesday, having been involved in the Blue Bulls’ Vodacom Cup preseason match against the Cheetahs.

Players who will be returning to training this week include Akona Ndungane, Arno Botha, Grant Hattingh, Ulrich Beyers and Jacques du Plessis. It is still unsure as to whether Jacques Potgieter will be fit in time to face the Force this weekend, which would be handy in the light of both Dewald Potgieter and Stegmann not being available.

    Just an update:

Dewald has gone to twitter to say that the scan revealed that the damage is not too bad, and that he will indeed tour with the squad.

Time to regret letting Stander and v.d Veldz go,
Both Pottie and Stegmann are basically a write off for 1st class rugby or they might need a full calendar year off if not longer
Derrick Minnie would be a sensible signing, Addendorf is another one to move up.

@Richard Ferguson-2: That’s good news for him. He has had some awful luck with injuries of late. Hope he gets well soon.

Thought Spies had a very good game. Played a lot tighter than usual and had the better of Vermuelen definitely.

    Damn they lost 2 forwards….
I think they will be found once they unravel one of those illegal mauls the bulls use to great effect.

@nortierd-14: Imagine the Bulls lose this weekend ? wont that make huge k@k here !! Having said that , as much as I would love for the Force to show everyone that they suddenly not that weak a team I cannot wish for a Bulls loss.

Funny how everyone said PE is going to be a easy 5 points for all the teams this year hey. Guess they were wrong

Force are not that bad but not that good either ….at the moment! They have had a massive clean out of personnel preseason. New CEO, management, coach and got rid of 15 contracted players. New CEO said they are going to treat The Force as a new franchise. They even put in standards to build a different culture. I saw that the kings had a somewhat experienced squad compared to the force.

The force loose forward trio will significantly test the bulls trio.

Still don’t understand how Stander was allowed to wander off. He was fkin brilliant for the Bulls last year.
