Settled Sharks for Kings

Settled Sharks for Kings

Sharks aim for consistency after selecting an unchanged team to travel to Port Elizabeth.

The team that did the job for the Sharks against the Stormers gets a shot to take on the Kings, hoping to keep their unbeaten streak going.

Jean Deysel will hope to continue his form with another good showing, keeping the evergreen Jacques Botes out of the starting lineup. Cobus Reinach again gets the nod above Charl McLeod, who must be frustrated after not seeing a minute of play in the previous two matches.

Coach John Plumtree mentioned in the week that he wants his backs to get more ball this week, while still being watchful of the Kings backline and what they can do.

Sharks: 15. Louis Ludik, 14. JP Pietersen, 13. Paul Jordaan, 12. Frans Steyn (c), 11. Lwazi Mvovo, 10. Pat Lambie, 9. Cobus Reinach, 8. Ryan Kankowski, 7. Jean Deysel, 6. Marcell Coetzee, 5. Franco van der Merwe, 4. Anton Bresler, 3. Jannie du Plessis, 2. Craig Burden, 1. Tendai Mtawarira Substitutes: 16. Kyle Cooper, 17. Wiehahn Herbst, 18. Pieter-Steph du Toit, 19. Jacques Botes, 20. Charl McLeod, 21. Meyer Bosman, 22. Odwa Ndungane

Blasts from the Past re that Trio of #10s:

    “263.Jinx:
12 Aug 2006, 12:08 pm bluecap The jinx is always on the Bulls when the WP dudes are around. My username comes from the best jinxing WP fly half from my youth, namely, Jannie Barnard. He could go in and out players like no one could. He played for the Bokke, I think for the dirt trackers in the mid 60?s. Piet Visagie was the leading fly half with the moerse boot…but he had no jinx. Jannie Barnard was the size of Brent Russell and created havoc for teams with his jinking runs. Sadly he was not really honoured for his footballing ability in SA. Had he been an Ozzie or Kiwi, he might have played plenty test rugby. Funny how things are pretty much the same today rugbywise in SA. Big oke…fat boot.”

12 Aug 2006, 12:11 pm Jannie Barnard played flyhalf for the Rooibontes (Transvaal)”

    “274.Jinx:
12 Aug 2006, 12:17 pm Bluecap # 264 No, Jannie Barnard was earlier than Christo Wagenaar, tommy Dup and Pierre Edwards. Thos guys were all in the 70?s/early 80?s. No Jannie Barnard played in the 60?s for Transvaal and WP. His brother Robbie Barnard got a few Bok caps as a hooker. Jannie Barnard would have played against Bulle like the late Chris Luther( No 15), Thys Lourens, Frik, Mof Myburgh, Gys Pitzer(No 2) 10 years before Tommy Dup etc.”

    “280.TheTackler:
12 Aug 2006, 12:24 pm That’s right! Jannie Barnard was a young stand-out flyhalf for Transvaal back in the late Sixties. His main opposites were the dead-eye kicking Piet Visagie of Griquas and the ageing and rapidly fading Keith Oxlee of Natal.”

12 Aug 2006, 13:41 pm Hel Tackler, Jinx, julle ons ken die geskiedenis. I gained new respect for you Tackler, you sure now your stuff!!

@David-53: He was from before my time here; I seem to remember reading some post that he had passed on? Is that correct? I’ve also gained the impression from what I’ve read that he was highly regarded. Is Jinx2 related to Jinx, or just a fan, or is the similarity in nic a mere coincidence?

    @Angostura-55:
Jinx2 is his brother. Yes, he had a heart attack. Great guy, poet, musician, rugby lover and WP stalwart.

When you paint your ‘masterpiece’ with uneven strokes the picture comes out embarrassingly ugly

You are so dillusional bud! U have one win against the worst team in the competition and now you think that ur queens are S15 material, hahaha. and now you reckon you are gonna beat the sharks! in your dreams. This is the begining of the end for your politically appointed ANC token BS team! From here it gets tough for you dreamers..stadium numbers will fall and the beatings get bigger and bigger! As you get beaten and beaten by teams that actually deserve to be in the comp!
