Captain Keegan returns

Captain Keegan returns

Keegan Daniel is back to lead the Sharks against the Brumbies.

Daniel is one of three changes to the starting line-up that overcame the Kings in Port Elizabeth last weekend. With Jean Deysel’s injury, Daniel’s return couldn’t have been better timed.

The other changes are in the backline where Charl McLeod starts ahead of Cobus Reinach while Odwa Ndungane is selected ahead of Lwazi Mvovo. These changes might be seen as rotation, but personally I think John Plumtree wants the most experienced side on the park against a tough Brumbies team.

The tinkering in the backline indicates a greater focus on the Brumbies’ kicking game, with Odwa Ndungane notoriously better than Mvovo under the high ball, and with his stints at fullback, will be a second for Louis Ludik. McLeod’s inclusion over Reinach could be purely on form after the youngster battled against the Kings, being substituted for the last quarter of the match, where McLeod showed some good form.

The bench sees the two dropped backline players take their spots, while Jacques Botes’ cracked wrist must not be too serious as he takes his place as backup.

Sharks: 15 Louis Ludik, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Paul Jordaan, 12 Francois Steyn, 11 Odwa Ndungane 10 Patrick Lambie, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Keegan Daniel (captain), 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Anton Bresler, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Craig Burden, 1 Tendai Mtawarira.Substitutes: 16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Wiehahn Herbst, 18 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 19 Jacques Botes, 20 Cobus Reinach, 21 Meyer Bosman, 22 Lwazi Mvovo.

@skopdiekan-133: Also remember we use Fransie as a extra flank as well. We got it covered don’t worry about us. We do have PSDT on the bench and Botes and like I said above if push comes to shove and Plum thinks we need PSDT at flank then he will play there for this game, but he really does not want to play flank but lock. We also have Botes on the bench.

We sorted. Just wish we never lost Deysel to injury he was playing some terrific rugby, especially against your Stormers.

@puma: ” Look that last penalty
against Chiefs that Stormers got did look
like they were hard done by. BUT Stormers
was the best side on the day. They came at
them from the start and good”

i know you would be crying tears if that was done on the Sharks by Peyper :D

@Transformation-155: Yes for sure. But really you have to get some luck and believe me teams get some and some don’t. Its part of the game. Chiefs left it too late, Stormers came at them from the start and I loved it. Wanted Stormers to beat the Chiefs and they did.

Now what will the Kings do Transie? Hope your defence is as great as last week, because for now that is your biggest weapon. My feeling your boys are gonna be just too tired after making so many tackles last week against the Sharks. Also against my team they had loads of stamina to do that as they had a bye the week before, had they played another team the week before and tackled like that they would not have kept it up agains the Sharks. They will need to play more than that bud. Still supporting them against the Chiefs and hope they hang in there and give it to them too, or at least stop them from scoring the 4 tries. Go Kings just do it!

@nortierd-148: Yes I did watch and they were honest there. Though they thought the Chiefs were hard done by, expect Wilson. He thought the Stormers deserved it anyway like we all think Stormere deserved it. I enjoyed watching Stormers beat them, very much. Brought them down to earth a bit there can’t just come to saffa land and expect to beat us saffas here. Pleased all a 3 teams playing kiwi sides won. Awesome actually.

@Puma-161: well Matt has been talking up ball-in-hand approach the whole week, Chiefs are not as physical as the Sharks so our forwards can try muscling them plus the Chiefs are sore from being bashed by Stormers. Retallick, Ngatai on bench.

if we match them at the collisions then we’ll be there or there about.

@Puma-186: Have a real dog guru trainer in every Sunday…..the pup walks on leash since 8 weeks already….disciplined completely…..quite amazing…..

costs a small fortune for trainer but doing a full 12 week and may even do a bit of advanced stuff…….got to or else they end up hurting someone or some other dog…….so best to invest in the Brute…..cant believe the growth in 5 weeks I have had him…..
and he eats like a Tyrannosaurus Rex……[ farken food so bloody expensive too ! ]…

But I dig him…..no softness there, just all character and swagger……very cool oke…

@grant10-189: Great that Grant. You have got it spot on getting trainer for a bigger dog like that, especially while young they learn discipline. I had so many, many years back a German Sherpard, Bull Terrier and Boxer they were all trained young and it paid off, all were very disciplined even into old age. After they passed on I got myself Pugs and have had that breed now for about 27 years. As one passed I got another. Lost my older pug just before we went on vacation to Cape Town in Feb. Miss him a lot, now only have one left, then that is me. Not getting anymore. Felt just to cut up about losing my lost male.

Enjoy your Rottie he sounds great though.

@Transformation-190: Good on you Transie getting to the games. Enjoy it. Hope we have a full tank on Saturday, but with the humidity I know some will not go as it is a 5pm kick off and sun still out. Just so hot sitting there this time of year. I will wait for it to get cooler and go to a few games. Still don’t have a season ticket as the seats available are not great, so just wait for the games I want to go to and get tickets for those.

@Puma-195: thanks Puma….Yes, this okes dad is a 72 kg monster….and mom not much smaller….8 to 14 weeks is the best train times…..I have read so many books about the breed so understand him well……serious okes…makes a great mate but always needs to know who is the boss…..so I am strict with him….amazing how they learn things….truly are a lot more cleverer than I imagined.

@stormersboy-194: can you verify? between yourself & ufo this was your daily bread.

“It’s taken 22 matches for Super rugby to reach the 500,000
    spectator mark.

In 7 seven matches, South Africa make up
    for 233,000 of those spectators.

The Kings 2 games make up 33% of that
total and thus far have had the biggest
    attendance.”
