Highlanders pin hope on experience

Jason Rutledge and Neil Brew reported for Highlanders training on Monday, proving to be a blast from the past.

The Highlanders have struggled with injuries and have looked towards the 35 year old hooker Rutledge and the 34 year old centre Brew to lift the team.

Rutledge was at the Hurricanes last week to cover their hooking injury crises, but has returned to the Highlanders as cover for Andrew Hore and Brayden Mitchell.

Brew covers injuries to Tamati Ellison and Shaun Treeby, the former out for at least two months and the latter for the next four weeks.

Zac back to face Kings

It has not taken Zac Guildford very long to impress at training, following reports that Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder is considering Guildford for this weekend’s clash against the Kings.

Guildford, who many though would not return to Super Rugby this year, was cleared to resume his career following a disciplinary committee last week. The player has completed his rehabilitation and could feature on the bench this weekend.

The Crusaders finally got off the mark against the Bulls this weekend, and look a tough opposition for the Kings to face in their very first away match.
