Naka turns to Smit
20 Mar 2013
Naka Drotske has resisted moving the multi-talented Willie le Roux to flyhalf.
Le Roux remains on the wing for the Cheetahs final tour game against the Force.
Riaan Smit replaces injured Springbok flyhalf Johan Goosen.
The Cheetahs have never won three matches on tour and victory against in Perth would create a franchise record.
Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Willie le Roux, 13 Johan Sadie, 12 Robert Ebersohn, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Riaan Smit, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Phillip van der Walt, 7 Lappies Labuschagne, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Lodewyk de Jager, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Adriaan Strauss (c), 1 Trevor Nyakane. Substitutes: 16 Ryno Barnes, 17 Coenie Oosthuisen, 18 Rynhard Landman, 19 Boom Prinsloo, 20 Piet van Zyl, 21 Burton Francis, 22 Ryno Benjamin.

Wierd how Coenie cannot find a starting place at Cheetahs, same with Cilliers at Stormers
These are the boks 2 bench guys.
Good impact players, perhaps not the full 80 type

Good luck Cheeetahs !
Coenie is deadly when he comes on so Naca may have the smarts on this one.

Jeez I wonder how many hours of bench time Burton Francis has done in the last 5 years haha.

Good move putting Riaan Smit in there. He’s no Goosen… but hopefully he can keep them steady and impresses with the boot. Need him to be at his very very best. Burton Francis kicking game is weak, otherwise he may have been a good option.
Wille le Roux far too erratic to be a flyhalf at this level IMO, though you can’t really be sure unless he’s given a shot. Just think instinctively the guy tries things that could lead to conceding a sh*t-load of points, though he also pulls things off reasonably often.
@Rhys7-2:
It’s because Coenie was coming back from an injury. The Cheetahs have been performing, so Naka has tried to limit the changes he makes.
Soon as Coenie makes it back into the starting-XV, which will probably be the following weekend, he will stay there.
I do think he’s a natural impact player at test level though, and also at SR level if the Cheetahs could get some solid scrummagers ahead of him.

Smit or Le Roux can fill 10, I reckon Le Roux would be more valuable at pivot than at wing and Smit has played well at wing before so perhaps Le Roux at 10 could be a good move though they both can get their backline motoring. Ebersohn is the kicking 10 they discarded for a more fluid backline fast pace game going to be interesting to see him facing off against his boet and his friends to show what they threw away but I still believe both Smit and Le Roux are better suited to Cheetahs game than Ebersohn would have been. He’s doing nicely at Force though and seems Force more direct traditional structure game suiting Ebersohn style better this year than last couple years at Cheetahs.

@Rhys7-2:
Coenie is managed back slowly after a neck and back injury.
Cheetahs lost Johan Goosen and Juan Smith allready so no changes to be taken with key players.
Lourens Adriaanse playing very good rugby and his defence is good aswell.
Good player management Naka!
