Alberts ready for Reds

Willem Alberts has flown to Australia to bolster the Sharks ahead of Reds clash.

After coming through two Vodacom Cup games unscathed, Willem Alberts was flown in for the Sharks’ second leg of their tour. Alberts has been suffering with an injury that has left him on the sidelines until two weeks ago, when he made his return via the Sharks XV team.

More good news, which has been a rare occurrence for the Sharks so far this season, is that both Bismarck du Plessis and Butch James will be available for selection within the next week. Whether either player makes the trip to Australia for the last tour game against the Force, remains to be seen. It would be a waste of resources to take those players across to simply play off the bench, when they can remain in South Africa and be fresh for the Bulls clash that waits when they return.

The Sharks medical staff have also released the following summary of players that are injured and their expected return dates:

Allan Dell – 4 weeks
Cobus Reinach – 6 weeks
Craig Burden – Not known yet
Dale Chadwick – 6 weeks
Francois Steyn – 6 weeks
Jacques Botes – 8 weeks
Louis Ludik – 4 weeks
Marius Joubert – 6 weeks
Paul Jordaan – 9 months
Tendai Mtawarira – 3 weeks
Tim Whitehead – 4 weeks
