Luke leads Kings

Luke Watson will captain the Kings against the Highlanders.

Watson will play on the flank with Cornell du Preez moving from flank to No 8 in place of injured Jacques Engelbrecht.

Watson said the squad was determined to produce the performances consistent with their pre-tour home matches.

The Kings, who beat the Force at home, and drew with the Brumbies and beat the Rebels in Australia took a 34-0 pounding against the Bulls in Port Elizabeth and last weekend suffered their worst defeat of the season in losing 72-10 to the Waratahs.

‘We knew from the beginning of the season that we would be underdogs for every game and last week Goliath won. It was not the performance we wanted, but the commitment of the team has been our strongest attribute and we will be giving a big commitment again on Saturday,’ said Watson.

The Kings are playing their 10th successive match and have a bye next weekend.
