Israel Folau says the Springboks physicality in Brisbane shocked and stunned the Wallabies – and said his team had to man up in Cape Town.
Folau, a former Rugby League sensation, is in his first season of Rugby Union.
He told reporters the Brisbane Test was a shock to the Australians because of how the Springboks ‘killed us’ at the breakdown.
He applauded South Africa’s intensity and physicality and said his team didn’t have an answer to it on the night.
He said the Wallabies now knew that if they didn’t front physically in Cape Town it would be more of the same.
He also said that after crushing defeats to the British and Irish Lions, the All Blacks and Springboks, the team had not yet bonded and that the away Tests against South Africa and Argentina would hopefully bring the squad closer together.
Fronting up has been the rallying cry of the Wallabies since they beat Argentina 14-13 in Perth.
