Victor Matfield will take over the captaincy of the Bulls as they face the Chiefs at Loftus on Saturday.
Matfield returned home early from their tour of Australia to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. He will resume his leadership role, taking over from Fourie du Preez, while lock Wilhelm Steenkamp drops out of the 22 altogether.
In the only other alteration to the pack and entire team, fetcher Deon Stegmann gets his first start since being banned after the Hurricanes match. Stegmann will need to be at his scavenging best to neutralise the efforts of Tanerau Latimer and Liam Messam at the breakdown.
The Bulls have once again named a full front row on the bench to make an impact in the second stanza.
