Stander to lead Baby Boks

Blue Bulls No 8 CJ Stander will captain the SA U20 side in their match against a French invitational XV.

The Baby Boks are currently on tour in France and will kick off with this match in Biarritz on Saturday. Stander, who played in last year’s IRB Junior World Championship where the Boks ended a disappointing third, has been handed the opportunity to lead the side.

Nine reserves have been named to give coach Eric Sauls a chance to gauge the strength of his squad.

‘I am really looking forward to this match as it will be the first opportunity of the new season where we’ll see our players in action against international opposition,’ said Sauls.

‘This is the first of three games against the French and as I said before, all these fixtures will be used to test different combinations and to identify how our guys handle the pressures of international rugby away from home.’
