The KES Easter Festival’s opening day saw a mix of convincing wins and near comeback performances.
KES and Pretoria Boys’ were the top performers on day one as they thrashed St Andrew’s (58-8) and the tournament invitational XV (73-3) respectively.
Litchenburg, Italy’s Viadana and Eldoraigne all held on for close victories as they edged St Benedict’s (42-39), Jeppe (17-14) and Bishops (30-28). The Eldoraigne-Bishops fixture was considered the most entertaining match of the day as the former surged into an early lead before Bishops fought back bravely. However, Eldoraigne kicked a late penalty to snatch the triumph.
Marlow downed St Alban’s in the final match of the day.
Day two will resume on Saturday, with the highlight match being the KES-Bishops clash.
