Taute’s Stormers torment

Jaco Taute’s Super Rugby season is over because of a knee injury and Elton Jantjies is unlikely to play against the Sharks.

Taute tore knee ligaments against the Cheetahs and Jantjies twisted his knee.

The duo were the Stormers two big signings from the Lions, but Taute has had minimal game time because of injury and Jantjies’s season started with the tragedy of his father’s death and he has found little solace by way of rugby for the Stormers.

Taute, even when he played, battled and never looked comfortable in the Stormers structure. The same has applied to Jantjies.

Stormers coach Allistair Coetzee has naturally refused to concede the team’s championship credentials are something of the past and he looked to the book of cliche to tell Stormers supporters that his team were down and not out and that this team were their own worst enemies … and … and …

The Stormers play the Sharks at Newlands this weekend.

Siya Kolisi is also battling with injury but Coetzee expected the flanker to be available for selection.
