Poms punish woeful Wallabies

England have beaten Australia 20-13 at Twickenham in a painful 80 minutes of sub-standard Test rugby.

England’s two tries came from a charge down and an obstruction the referee deemed ‘not to be enough obstruction’ and Australia’s try came from Matt Toomua running over Billy Twelvetrees in a way Jonah Lomu used to run over defenders.

It was that type of match. Bizarre and awful.

Australia led 13-6 at halftime but it was a score against the run of play as England flyhalf Owen Farrell missed three penalties.

The second 40 was all England with Australia never in a position to threaten the English tryline.

Australia have now lost eight of their 11 Tests this season.

England – Tries: Chris Robshaw. Conversions: Owen Farrell (2). Penalties: Farrell (2).
Wallabies – Try: Matt Toomua. Conversions: Quade Cooper. Penalties: Cooper (2).
