South Africa had their championship hopes dashed with a one point (32-31) defeat to England, while the hosts, France, upset New Zealand winning 16-7. The Baby Boks will now face the Baby blacks in the bronze playoff.

Despite fighting back from 19-0 down, the Junior Bokswere unable to gain a lead as a 14 man English side held on in the final minutes of the game, seeing them emerge one point victors.
