RG Snyman chats Bok debut
Young Bulls lock RG Snyman took no time in translating his superb Super Rugby form into the test arena. The number four was immense in South Africa’s first test victory over England last Saturday and will be looking to build on that form and continue in the same vain come Saturday.
Aside from his high work rate, Snyman set up fellow debutant Aphiwe Dyantyi’s second try and made a crucial lineout steal in the final minutes of the game as England sought a match-winning try. Snyman opened up to the media about his Springbok debut.
It’s a big honour and a privilege to play for the Springboks. It’s something you dream about growing up. Running out at Ellis Park is a special moment, seeing all those people there to support you. It was a nice match to play,” Snyman said on Tuesday.
The first 20 minutes, I felt like it was never going to end.”
“Playing with guys that have walked the road in a Bok jersey before and have a lot of experience was nice, especially being down after 20 minutes and Duane just having a chat to us.
“You can see that maybe he’s been in a situation like that before and he instilled a bit of calmness into the guys.”
Of John Mitchell, Snyman had the following to say.
“Mitch doesn’t really put a lot of pressure on us,”
“He just wants us to have fun on the field and he understands what makes every player good. He just tries to focus on that and I think that’s the difference.”
