World Rugby needs a REVOLUTION
Dave Rennie said sorry for his referee rant – and life goes on without sanction. Rassie Erasmus, forced to say sorry, spends 10 months banned from watching Test rugby at a stadium. World Rugby’s lack of integrity disgusts me, writes Mark Keohane.
A revolution in professional rugby couldn’t come soon enough. The game needs a Kerry Packer cricket-type breakaway, or in the age we live in, it simply needs an IPL-style breakaway to kill the old order at World Rugby.
It could come in the form of the proposed Rugby 12s, but only if there are enough players who are willing to chase the dollars and the new-styled game and forever form a game that has nothing to do with the existing World Rugby order.
Within a year, the World Rugby, as it now stands, would have no life.
The best players would be in the rebel league and the best coaches would be there as well.
The 12s, so easily dismissed by World Rugby, must find its second wind and go it alone without World Rugby.
The game of professional rugby needs a REVOLUTION because there is simply no evolution.
