Bulls supporters see red & rage at match officials
A Bulls perspective, by way of a video, states that they were victims of match official bias/incompetence in the Stormers’ victory at Loftus in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, writes Mark Keohane.
I felt it was the other way around and that the Stormers were the victims of incompetent match officiating, from all those involved in the on-field and TMO decision-making.
My view, written straight after the match, was on what my eyes saw for the 80-plus minutes, where I felt much more went the home team’s way, even though I felt the standard overall, which affected both teams, was sub-standard and not good enough for a match of such quality and importance.

Everyone wants a fair contest and if match officials continue to get it wrong then there must be consequences, similar to a player or coach who consistently underperforms.
This is a professional sport and while human error will always be a part of the sport, the integrity of the sport should not excuse howlers. Also, who actually officiates, a team of collectives, with the biggest voice sitting in the TMO’s box, or the individual with the whistle?
