Biting the Bullet – Springbok series win
Keo and World Cup-winning Springbok hooker James Dalton reflect on the Springboks’ series win against England and chat about the energy and structure the new look Bok side has been playing with in this week’s installment of Biting the Bullet.
The main focal point of this week’s discussion was around Rassie Erasmus and his immediate and distinctive impact upon the side. “Good coaches are invariably good selectors” says Keo with regard to Erasmus and his attitude towards selection.
“There seems under Rassie Erasmus to be an intensity, he has created belief within the players” says Dalton, who speaks of a hunger and want to restore pride in the Bok jersey.
The pair also spoke about the impact of Erasmus’ overseas selections and his measured and tactical use of combinations and substitutions.
Aside from the Springbok focus, the two touched on the All Blacks and their injury problems, as well as the Australia vs Ireland series.
“New Zealand will end third in the rugby championship and the winning team will come between South Africa or Australia” is Keo’s closing statement following a look at what the respective international sides have offered so far this June.
