Dyantyi and Brink to travel to New Zealand
Winger Aphiwe Dyantyi and flanker Cyle Brink have been included in the Lions touring squad to New Zealand.
While there is concern over both Dyantyi and flanker Cyle Brink, the pair have been included in the Lions 25 man squad to travel to Christchurch for the final.
After contributing the Lions’ walloping of the Waratahs (44-26) in Saturday’s semi final, with a brilliant individual try, Dyantyi did not return for the second half due to a hamstring injury.
Dyantyi is one of the side’s star players having risen in a year to Springbok status as well as being a lethal try scorer for the Lions in this year’s Super Rugby campaign.
In chatting to SuperSport.com, Lions coach Swys De Bruin said the following “Let’s hope and pray he will be fine, he has a hamstring that has twitched, so I had no option but to sub him, but what a guy to sub him with. Courtnall (Skosan) is in a class of his own, brilliant as well.”
Brink missed the semi-finals game to an arm ‘stinger’ suffered against the Jaguares in the quarter-finals, but has also been passed fit to tour.
