Edinburgh up and running as Munster ground Ospreys
Edinburgh saw off Connacht to record their first Pro 14 win as Munster thrashed a much-changed Ospreys side on Friday.
Edinburgh held off a Connacht fightback to register their first Pro14 victory at the third attempt, while Munster emphatically ended Ospreys’ 100 per cent record on Friday.
Tries from Duhan van der Merwe and Pierre Schoeman, both converted by Jaco van der Walt, helped put Edinburgh 17-0 ahead in the early stages of the second half at Murrayfield.
Connacht had posed little threat before Niyi Adeolokun touched down, the winger scrambling over after Jack Carty’s long pass created the opportunity following a catch-and-drive move from a penalty.
Carty added the conversion and was also on target with a penalty attempt, putting his team in striking distance. However, Edinburgh held their nerve in the closing stages to secure a hard-fought 17-10 win.

Joey Carbery marked his debut by scoring while hooker Rhys Marshall crossed for two tries for the hosts, who wrapped up a bonus point before the break.
