Etzebeth set to return, Whiteley a doubt for Scotland Test
Warren Whiteley’s calf injury could keep him out of South Africa’s clash with Scotland, but Eben Etzebeth may return.
Eben Etzebeth is set to return to training this week but South Africa could be without Warren Whiteley against Scotland on Saturday.
Etzebeth limped out of the Springboks’ opening November Test against England with an ankle injury and it was feared his tour was over.
The damage done was not as bad as first feared and although the lock missed the dramatic win over France last weekend, he could feature at Murrayfield.
Rassie Erasmus revealed that number eight Whiteley may not be fit to take on Gregor Townsend’s side.
Whiteley hurt his calf at Stade de France, while props Vincent Koch and Frans Malherbe are expected to play despite suffering knocks in Paris.
Bongi Mbonambi’s last-gasp try snatched a 29-26 win over Les Bleus on Saturday.
