O’Gara rules out France World Cup role
Ronan O’Gara says there was contact from agents over a job with France, but says he is committed to the Crusaders.
Ronan O’Gara has refuted reports that he could assist France head coach Jacques Brunel in the Rugby World Cup.
The Crusaders backs coach has been linked with a role with Les Bleus for the tournament in Japan later this year.
Former Ireland fly-half O’Gara, who spent four seasons working for Racing 92, says he remains committed to the Super Rugby champions.
“There were one or two approaches from an agent, that’s as far we’ve got,” O’Gara told Radio Sport New Zealand.
“As anyone knows I have an amount of work to do here, which is really important to me, and if there is anything, Razor [Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson] and the Crusaders would be the first to know about it.”
He added: “It’s not a distraction. These are all conversations that happen. Next week it will be someone else.”
Brunel has come under increasing pressure after another disappointing Six Nations for France, which delivered only two victories.
