Super Rugby preview: Back the Bulls all the way to the bank
The Oracle and Keo agree that the Bulls is your money game this weekend, but they disagree on what will happen in Durban. The Oracle’s going for the Sharks but Keo reckons the Sharks don’t have the firepower up front to fashion a win, and he’s got the Stormers to cruise to victory.
Blues v Highlanders
Oracle: Every NZ derby deserves respect. I will give the match its derby due and will go for the Highlanders, albeit a small play that won’t break the bank.
Call: Highlanders -7.5 at 0.5 units
Keo: In Auckland, it will be less than 10 points, but the Highlanders will still win.
Waratahs v Lions
Oracle: Waratahs have impressed me, but so have the Lions, the Waratahs have upset me and so have the Lions, we heard Whitely was going to play then we heard he was not, I will have an absolute minimum play here and go for the team with a bit of value.
Call: Lions on the board at 11/10 for 0.25 units
Keo: I have the Lions to win comfortably by 10 plus points. The Waratahs haven’t impressed me.
Crusaders v Sunwolves
Oracle: This handicap is similar to last year’s encounter, the Sunwolves saw red and got smashed by around the fifty mark, this year will not be much different, since it is a high quote I will keep my stakes low, but I do believe it’s the right way to go.
Call: Crusaders -38.5 at 0.5 units
Keo: The weather could be a factor, as could motivation for the hosts. I’d go with a Crusaders win, but by less than 25.
Reds v Chiefs
Oracle: Reds are at home, and this is where they have performed. This one looks too high. The bookies have got the Reds wrong more times than I have and I feel there is another one coming. The Chiefs have not impressed me and I honestly have nothing for them.
Call: Reds +13.5 at 2 units
Keo: I am backing the Reds to break the NZ curse and be the first Aus team to win in 35 Super Rugby matches versus a Kiwi side.
Bulls v Rebels
Oracle: This is a ridiculous quote, the bookies have no respect for the Bulls and or they have too much admiration for a Rebel’s team that has no leaders. The Bulls WILL win this game by a country mile, this one is SUPER MAX and should be treated as such. They were -7.5 on Monday and since I am a Wednesday punter I got -10.5, it’s not enough. This is the BEST BET OF THE WEEKND
Call: Bulls -10.5 at 5 units
Keo: Bulls to win by 10 points. I am with the Oracle on this one, back the Bulls all the way.
Sharks v Stormers
Oracle: The Stormers are way worse than I originally thought, yes the Sharks have been just as bad, I went Sharks last week and saw my arse, this week I am going for them again, they are the wounded animal here not the Stormers.
Call: Sharks on the board at 8/10 for 3 units
Keo: The Stormers pack will destroy the powder puff Sharks forwards. It will be a repeat of the Currie Cup final when the Stormers, in the guise of WP, destroyed the Sharks. Stormers to win by 10 points.
Brumbies v Jaguares
The worst team in the Aussie conference bar the Sunwolves are up against it this week, they take on a team that has been buoyed by the narrow win v Rebels last week, a win is achievable is probably the way to go here, the bookies have given the Jaguares a plus 5.5 and in my opinion it’s too high, in my opinion the Brumbies will be lucky to win this game.
Call: Jaguares on the board at 16/10 for a 2 units
