Wigglesworth’s career in Opta numbers as he breaks Premiership record
Saracens scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth is set to become the Premiership’s all-time record appearance holder – here are his best stats.
Richard Wigglesworth will set a new Premiership record for the most appearances when he plays his 266th game on Sunday.
The 35-year-old scrum-half, who earlier this year became the first man to have won five Premiership finals, will surpass Steve Borthwick’s total after being selected in Saracens’ XV to face Gloucester.
England international Wigglesworth made his debut for Sale Sharks in the 2002-03 season and moved to Saracens in 2010.
Here, with the help of Opta, we take a look at Wigglesworth’s career in numbers.
160 – This will be Wigglesworth’s 160th appearance in the starting XV, while he has come off the bench 106 times.
18 – Wigglesworth has crossed for 18 Premiership tries, four of which came in his most-prolific season in 2014-15.

3 – Only three men have played 100-plus games for two different clubs in the Premiership, with Wigglesworth in elite company alongside Borthwick (Bath and Saracens) and Hugh Vyvyan (Newcastle and Saracens).
34 – Wigglesworth was the second-oldest player to start at scrum-half for England when, at 34 years and 281 days, he played against Ireland in the Six Nations earlier this year.
15 – The scrum-half’s career has spanned over 15 years. Andy Goode, whose final appearance came 17 years and 155 days after his debut, has the longest Premiership career.
