Women’s Six Nations match postponed after Scotland player tests positive for coronavirus
The Women’s Six Nations match between Scotland and France has been postponed after one of the home players tested positive for coronavirus.
Scottish Rugby confirmed on Friday that the player is being treated at a health care facility “but is otherwise well”.
A further seven members of the squad and the management are in self-isolation following medical advice.
Scottish Rugby said the decision to call off the match was taken in conjunction with the French Rugby Federation (FFR) and tournament organisers.
The player tested positive for the virus on Friday, almost two weeks after the team returned from northern Italy, where they had been due to play a Six Nations match on February 23 before it was postponed.
Although Saturday’s match between Scotland and France in Glasgow has been cancelled, the game between the two men’s teams at Murrayfield on Sunday is set to go ahead as planned.
Dr James Robson, Scottish Rugby’s chief medical officer, said in a statement: “We are pleased that our player is doing well and that all the correct medical procedures have been followed and continue to be followed.
“We are working with the Scottish Government in continuing to observe and follow NHS [National Health Service] advice.”
